Hey Shark Eyers, I want to take a minute to talk to you about what Shark Eye is, what it was supposed to be, and what it’s evolving into. I’ll try to keep this as short as possible, but there’s quite a bit to cover. I’ll throw in something funny at the end, to make it worth your while.
BEGINNINGS:
Shark Eye came to be via a passion for content creation and gaming. I’ve always felt I had an ability to create videos that are fun and engaging, and I started to feel a desire to make that a regular thing. I also love gaming, whether its video, board, or tabletop. The idea was to combine these two interests, creating a page, channel, and website devoted to gameplay videos, discussions, and humorous shorts. As the concept grew, and new contacts were added, it was to expand into comics, anime, conventions, and cosplay. It was a bold plan, with a lot players and a ton of ideas. Shark Eye had partnerships with stores and owners, guest articles and videos from experienced editors, and player spotlight interviews. Sadly, that wasn’t to happen. Partnerships dissolved, there was fallout with peers in some of the communities, and worst of all I was finding myself unable to deal with some recent tragedies. This caused the initial collapse of Shark Eye Gaming.
CURRENT INCARNATION:
Shark Eye Gaming gave way to Shark Eye Media. New plans have arisen, incorporating older concepts but not limiting itself specifically to geekdom. But this has caused another issue, and the one I’m currently struggling with:
Shark Eye has been rudderless…
If you follow this page’s content at all, you will have undoubtedly noticed that its posts don’t have much of a connection. No clear defining image that links all the posts, besides generalized geekery. It’s a hodgepodge of things, and it has been really been bothering me lately. Posts ranging from gaming memes, painting progress pics, behind the scenes shots of photoshoots, all the way to Power Rangers donuts. There’s no clear vision right now, and as such there’s no content for a specified audience. In turn there’s little audience growth, which is ironic considering how many of the said posts were created to draw specific audiences in. I’ve realized now that does little good. Not much reason for people to come, not much reason for them to stay. And no one wants that.
THE FUTURE:
Shark Eye Media is far from dead in the water again. There are some major projects in the works. Behind the Scenes videos for some amazing photo shoots. Video productions from the upcoming Dallas Fan Expo. And a bunch of series and small productions in the works.
For now the direction of Shark Eye needs to be reevaluated again, and to be honed down to content you wonderful people want to see. If you have read this far, I sincerely thank you. It shows your appreciation of what Shark Eye is and can be. And its for you that I will now focus on making the best content you could ask for. To make ya laugh, smile, and think. And that will be happening soon. Now as an additional thank you for sticking around, here’s an adorable shark meme.
