"Festivals that are bound to a particular place have an intense, growing charm. These are often smaller festivals where filmmaker and audience aren’t artificially separated to create distance, where the boundary between audience and filmmaker is porous, and where engagement with the works themselves is part of the experience of the piece rather than an afterthought."

Olivia Popp reports from the latest edition of Anibar Festival, in terms of present, past and animation future.

Our Zippy Frames Story

We started in 2011 with the aim to promote European and independent animation worldwide, a severely under-represented area in animation reporting and criticism. 6 years later and 3,000 articles in our Zippy Frames slate, we still feel there is the need to talk about animation; to review films; to cover in depth animation festivals; to host and hear the voice of people who do animation shorts ; to inform on professional opportunities and act as a liaison between providers and artists. We have certainly grown up a lot since our early start, but our mission remains the same.
