"SPIRIT OF THE JI***OO

Throughout the centuries of time, my ancestors were called the “N” word, brute, c**n etc; but JI***OO was one of the main names they called us. Due to our dark skin and wool hair; the outside world saw us as not just slaves, but savages and monsters! We’ve been through the trenches of heartache, suffering, and death; but through the journey of my ancestors, here I am standing strong in the modern world.
I AM A KING, I AM ROYALTY, I AM A SOLDIER!!

Description Of Picture

*The RED PAINT on my limbs represent the trials of scars and blood.
*The ROPE wrapped around my leg represent the centuries of my kind being lynched.
*The TARP represents the cloth that was torn from our bodies due to the whippings.
*The AFRICAN GARMENTS/JEWELRY represents the royalty/beauty of mother Africa; that I do come from KINGS & QUEENS.
*The CHAIN around my wrist represents the centuries of bo***ge
*The HAIR represents the roots of my ancestors which shall be the magic to grow within me to where it forms as branches of a tree.

I AM MAGIC!; my gift is embedded within the bloodline of my people; my heritage; and with God’s will, the world will know of my powers!!!

HAPPY JUNETEENTH EVERYONE!!

Souleymane’s Story is a great film that will leave you speechless. No soundtrack, no monologues—just the raw, unfiltered reality of an undocumented delivery driver navigating Paris. A powerful portrayal of resilience and survival. Don't miss it when it releases later this year.

The excitement is swelling for tonight's SUPERFINE live exhibit. We're already enjoying offerings like this one from : AFRICAN CULTURAL FUSION 🇧🇯 x 🇳🇬 (Black Dandyism : An African Perspective - MET GALA 2025)

Black dandyism doesn’t just echo European sartorial traditions. It also incorporates global influences— From African textiles to Caribbean flair and American street style .. creating an aesthetic that is both universal and deeply personal.

One would expect that there will be a lot of African Cultural Fusion on the MET Gala Red Carpet .. From accessorizing with African staples like cowries and beads, to the infusion of African prints and textiles.

An ode to the reinvention of Black Dandyism in Africa with strong African accentuations while maintaining Superfine tailoring will be a major hit on the red carpet.

The fw’25 collection is a striking homage to the audacious allure of american gangster films, reimagined through the world of laquan smith.

Drawing inspiration from the opulence and power dressing of the 1980s, the collection embodies a fearless attitude, where sharp tailoring meets indulgent textures and unapologetic glamour.

Every piece exudes a commanding presence—strong shoulders, cinched waists, and decadent fabrics seamlessly intertwine to evoke a world of rebellion, seduction, and authority.

Laquan smith masterfully channels the spirit of cinematic icons, transforming classic silhouettes into modern statements of power, confidence, and untamed luxury.
