As we grow older, we are forcibly reminded of limitation more and more often. Except that is for Glenn Hughes, the undisputed voice of rock, Beetlejuice or the gentleman selling ice cream as was once pointed out by Jon Lord. Anyways, on this month’s cover of Rocktologist Mr. Hughes broad smile is strained to the limit, and with good reason – he has a new solo album out, and it’s a peach. With a variety of soothing components conjured into one ethereal pulp of folk-rock grandeur, Auri are sounding purposeful. The same could be said for Blackbriar, only within the realms of vacuous goth metal. Thrash veterans S***m are also in the pack, attacking with earth-trembling riffs and an overall assault on the senses. A look at the very first Nueva Generación national progressive rock festival at the legendary Foro Alicia in Mexico City is bound to delight those quirky readers. Also not to be missed this month are Rage, Crowne and Potamos among others…
Cheers!
