Hey guys I need some help getting this out there!

I’m doing some extensive research and have finally discovered that Sam Doss was born in Charleston West Virginia on March 5th 1868. If you have friends or family in West Virginia please share this to them..

Sam’s nephew was William Huls so if anyone knows of any Huls let me know!

I would like to see if there are some relatives of Sam’s out east since he and his wife didn’t have children

Thanks for the help!

Part 1 is now available to watch on YouTube!

Samuel Lorraine Doss was a constable in Randolph township which is what we know as Desloge, Missouri today. As a lawman he cracked down on illegal gambling, and bootlegging during the roaring 20s in St.Francois county. According to research he made many enemies during his day because of his tough way of dealing with others. He was well known as a tall man with broad shoulders with a .45 on his side who wasn’t afraid to pistol whip you no matter what your status was.

On the night of August 16th 1926 after he and his wife Jenny Doss get home they sit down for Dinner around 9 PM. What they didn’t know is that someone was waiting outside the kitchen window. The story goes Sam stood up to wipe his hands and then the shot rang out killing him in front of Jenny. The search for his murderer went on for years because it was said there was approx 50 suspects that would have liked to see him dead.

This series is to not just retell the story in video form but to reveal more about Sam Doss and his character so you can get a better idea of what he was like as well as discuss what St.Francois county was like during the early 1900s!

The legend of Sam Doss part 1 will be released this weekend!

Many will recognize the house in the video as the “sherriff house” which is on Desloge drive in Desloge Missouri.

On August 16th 1926 a constable by the name of Sam Doss was shot through the kitchen window after eating dinner. Sam was well known throughout St.Francois county all the way to st.Louis as being a very tough individual who didn’t seem scared of much. Many lawman would “send for Sam doss” when they had a tough individual that they needed to arrest. It seemed as if he made some enemies in his day which lead to demise.

So in the new episode you will hear DJ speak about how his grandmother told a story about how she remembers civil war soldiers near her home on Hill Street around the late 1890s. That would have been 30-40 years after the war ended, So would have it been possible to still see actual soldiers fighting that long after the war ended?

I’m sure there were still some families who held onto their strong beliefs after the war and so it could have still been possible to have some small fights even after the war ended.

As DJ said he was told this when he was a young boy and doesn’t really know how factual it is but that his grandma for sure witness it.

one thing that I find interesting is that Greg McWilliams reached out to me after watching the episode and said that he had actually found a cannon ball within a mile and a half of the house on hill street while doing some ground work at a property near there.

So was there a small undocumented fight near hill street… I don’t know 🤷🏻 but could have been possible!

New episode is up and ready to view on YouTube!
