We live in a world where people often look at the title before the person. But the truth is…

May kwento akong nakakatawa na ewan. 😭😂 Isang araw, naisipan naming lumabas nila Connie. Nung nasa meeting place na ko, tawang tawa ako nung makita ko silang papalapit sakin kasi parang mga badjao na naglalakad sa kalsada. 😭

(I meant no offense po sa mga badjao in general, pero kasi may 'connotation' nang nakadikit sa kanila dito sa Manila).

What makes this even more funny was that, lahat sila Connie ay naka Crocs, so unang pumasok sa isip ko was: BADJAO IN CROCS. 😭

Kaya grabe yung tawa ko. Tawa kaming lahat nang tawa. In the end, naging tampulan namin ng tukso itong Badjao in Original Crocs.

Nung naglalakad na kami, nakita namin itong restaurant: INCANTA RESTAURANT. Naamaze kami kasi parang ang ganda sa labas.. mukhang kweba na sosyal. So triny namin pumasok.

Aba. Pinigilan kami ng guard pumasok. Nagulat ako. Sabi ko, "Ano?"

Aba. Tiningnan kami mula paa hanggang ulo.

Bigla akong nanliit. Since fresh pa sa isip ko yung badjao in crocs, bigla kong naiisip, mukha na ba talaga kaming mga badjao? Mukha ba kaming walang pera? Mukha ba kaming walang pambayad?

So sabi ko, "Excuse me Kuya. Nakaoriginal Crocs po kami — meaning may pambayad kami.."

Sabi nya, "Bawal po Ma'am."

Aba, mas lalo nag init ang tenga ko so tinanong ko ulet: "At bakit kami bawal ehh customer kami? Discrimination ito ahh.."

Biglang napakamot sa ulo yung guard sabay tingin sa mga paa namin. "Bawal po yung mga naka Crocs, Ma'am.

Hindi ko pa masyado maintindihan si Kuya. Na stuck ako dun sa walang pambayad thoughts ko so I asked, "Kahit original? Tag 4K ito kuya. Kaya may pambayad kami sa oorderin namin.." 😭

The guard's look turned apologetic so he clarified, "May required attire po kasi sa Incanta para makakain.. at yung Crocs is bawal po. Pwede po sandals, sapatos pero hindi nakatsinelas at Crocs."

Ohhh. Dun ko naintindihan yung pinopoint out nya. He was referring to their footwear rules.

Bale, yung Crocs is not allowed in general — yun ang reason bakit hindi kami pwede pumasok, NOT because mukha kaming mga walang pera. 😭

It made sense. Nastuck lang talaga yung utak ko sa badjao in crocs, so hindi ko sila una maintindihan. 😭

We understood, said our goodbyes and went our merry way.

Honestly, hindi ko alam kung tatawa o maguguilty. Siguro karma na yun samin / lalo na sakin. 😭

We tasted our very own medicine. 😭😂

The very thing na pinagtatawanan namin (badjao), pinatikim samin how to be treated like one for a short time. 😭

The very thing na pinagmamalaki namin (Original Crocs), was the very reason we were denied access. 😭

Well, that's how I internalized it. Haha.

Karma is digital na nga talaga. 😭😂
