Greatest Scene Ever A great show on SOC TV about movies! The idea came from a lecture for Greg Smith's Film and Video Production II class for AU/SOC.

An assignment he gives his students at the beginning of every semester. A challenge.

“What’s the best scene you ever saw in a movie?"

The answer is, of course, highly subjective. But as film professionals and academics, the question can (and should) be answered using specific criteria to justify the choice, ie: editing, acting, music, lighting, camera, etc. It's not enough to say you like the sc

ene, you have to explain why. The program is co-hosted by Greg Smith and Paul Oehlers and features their film choices. Each program has a central theme, ie: Westerns, Comedy, Action/Adventure, etc. After introducing the theme, the hosts trade off, playing clips of their choices for (one of) the greatest scene ever (within that genre), and justifying their decisions. Think of it as two friends having coffee and chatting about movies that they love and discussing what makes a specific scene “great”. It's a fun, informal, and spontaneous talk show, and a must watch for film buffs. So tune in, and please, join the conversation! Follow us on twitter , e-mail us at [email protected], or message the face book page! What is your Greatest Scene Ever, and why?

Sean Connery’s role in the 1959 Walt Disney film ‘Darby O’Gill and the Little People’ helped him land the role of James Bond. That must have been a real Leprechaun he caught in that film!
