I shared this an hour ago and it's caused me to have the reflection that, for some (and many influential) men who are attracted to women, somehow women being sexually attractive to them makes women less than them, somehow. They cannot hold in their mind that someone can be sexually attractive *and* equal.

This is bizarre. Gay men don't do the same thing to other men, as a rule. Women don't, in my experience, do the same thing en masse to whoever they are attracted to.

So: discussion point.

Why do men who are attracted to women, and only men who are attracted to women, have the tendency to dehumanise the people they are attracted to?

Enmeshment is an unhealthy way that people achieve connectedness in relationships. With enmeshment, people cannot maintain an individual identity within their group.

People who are enmeshed experience severe guilt when they attempt to think differently, act differently or want something different from the group. Commonly, enmeshment happens in families, but it also occurs in romantic relationships, friendships, and work environments.

Being enmeshed is not a healthy way to be in relationships with others. It's healthy for you to maintain your own (chosen) life, values, and identity.
