It was a short but fun chase on the NS Greenville District today as we see NS 154 ( Irondale, AL - Linwood, NC ) making a northbound run through Central, SC and Liberty, SC this afternoon withbthe NS #1074 EMD SD70ACe ( Lackawanna Railroad ) Heritage Unit leading the way as the sun begins to slowly set on those cold cloudy Monday afternoon ( 12/01/2025 ).

More proud, Heritage from the Union Pacific! Today, we start our journey in Villa Rica, GA waiting for UP ZLAAI / CPKC I968 / NS 28J ( Los Angeles, CA - Atlanta, GA ) to arrive with a special locomotive in the lead. UP #1983 EMD SD70ACe ( Western Pacific Railway ) Heritage Unit was leading the way as it twist and curves on the NS East Wnd District between Irondale, AL and Austell, GA. This rail line on the Norfolk Southern has some great action and some great spots for railfanning. Photos were taken on this cold foggy Monday morning ( 11/03/2025 ).

What an amazing trip this was. It has been 8 years since we saw the N&W J-Class #611. We want to thank the crew of the 611 and the Buckingham Branch Railroad for all their hard work and letting this beautiful steam locomotive run again. We hope to see more N&W 611 excursions in the future along with other steam excursions. This trip began in Goshen, VA, and ended in Staunton, VA. The 611 would stop just outside of Staunton, and on Saturdays, the 611 would end at the station in downtown Staunton, VA, and then head back to Goshen, VA after that. Photos were taken on Friday ( 10/17/2025 ) and Saturday ( 10/18/2025 ).

Hello everyone. We just want to inform you that Bob Folsom President and owner of the N&W Roanoke Division Model Railroad went to the hospital yesterday morning due too a 11 second pause on his heart. Mr. Folsom went into surgery last night and has had a Pacemaker/Defibrillator installed and we were informed he is doing well so far. We will go visit him today and check in on him to make sure everything is OK. Please keep Bob in your prayers and we will update you once we get an update. Thank you everyone for following us and our layout. God Bless you all!

Illinois is heading to the Terminal! On a beautiful Tuesday afternoon, we head for Spartanburg, SC, in search of NS 243 ( Charleston, SC - Atlanta, GA ) and then chase it back to Greenville, SC. NS #1072 EMD SD70ACe ( Illinois Terminal Railroad ) Heritage Unit was leading the train off of the NS W-Line heading for Atlanta, GA. NS #1072 has been in storage in Altoona, PA, for a year waiting for a complete overhaul and maintenance. The locomotive was also taken to the paint shop and was cleaned up and repainted into its Illinois Terminal Heritage paint scheme. The locomotive looks great, and we want to thank Norfolk Southern for their hard work. These photos were taken on Tuesday ( 09/02/2025 ).

Southern serves the south once more! Here, we see NS 283 / BNSF Z-AUGSBD7 ( Charlotte, NC - San Bernardino, CA ) makes a southbound run by the N&W Roanoke Division Model Railroad headquarters in Central, SC with the NS #8099 GE ES44AC ( Southern Railway ) Heritage Unit leading the way. NS #8099 was ripped off NS 283 in Atlanta, GA and then was added to NS 370 for Chattanooga, TN later that evening. Photos were taken on this cool and cloudy Monday afternoon ( 08/04/2025 ).
