Amtrak Crescent #20 ( New Orleans, LA - New York, NY ) makes a northbound run by the N&W Roanoke Division Model Railroad headquarters in Central, SC tonight with the Amtrak Day One Heritage Unit leading the charge. Amtrak locomotive #301 is a Siemens ALC-42 Charger locomotive that was built to replace the current GE P42 Genesis locomotives that have been running for past 33 years. These locomotives are still running the system today until their days come to an end for good. If you see any Amtrak trains with the P42 Genesis on them, get your photos while you still can. The photo was taken early Thursday morning at 2:20 AM EDT ( 05/15/2025 ).

Can you afford to board the Chattanooga Choo Choo? Today, on TC, we want to share some photos of our trip to Chattanooga, TN. For our first stop, we visit the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum to see the Southern Railway #630 2-8-0 steam locomotive along with the Southern Railway #5000 EMD GP38-2 as well. It was nice to see some steam once again in action at the museum, and we will be again in the future to see more of it. Photos were taken on Saturday ( 04/26/2025 ).

TAG, your it! We hope you are all doing well today on this fine Friday. The Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia Railroad was created through a reorganization of the Chattanooga Southern Railway in 1911. A few years later, in 1922, the line's name was changed to the Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia Railway (reporting mark TAG) and was also known as the TAG Route. The TAG ran from Chattanooga, Tennessee, through northwest Georgia, and into Gadsden, Alabama. The trackage began at Milepost 1 in Alton Park (Chattanooga) and continued southwest to the southern terminus in Gadsden, some 91.7 miles (147.6 km) distant. In 1952, the railroad retired its last steam locomotive.
