The MetroWest Chamber of Commerce has been a backbone of my local business community for over 125 years.

Last month, I popped into Jackson Walnut Park to give a few members of the administration a group Canva presentation. Our agenda included:

Here's how the shift key can make your designs cleaner, faster, and way less frustrating.

📏 To resize without warping your image ➡️ hold shift while you drag the corner

🔄 To rotate any element smoothly ➡️ hold shift while rotating to snap to clean angles

That's right, no more tedious background removals or clunky cutouts. And no Photoshop required!

👉🏻 Try it now:
1. Select your photo in your design
2. Navigate to Magic Studio
3. Click Grab Object
4. Click the object(s) you want to pull out of the photo
5. Delete what you don't need

💡 : Power up your presentations with the Appear on Click animation function in Canva.

Instead of revealing everything at once, guide your audience through your story slide by slide, click by click.

Here’s how:
→ Select the element (text, chart, photo, etc.)
→ Click Animate
→ Toggle/enable Appear on Click in the Animation panel

The result is strategic pacing, a more attentive audience, and an elevated presentation experience. It's perfect for pitches, training decks, or webinars.

🤳🏻Have you ever taken a picture and thought in the moment how lovely it was only to find out later that something was amiss in the background?

Now you might think I'm going to give the generic background remover tip here but stay with me. 👇🏻

To make your photos look a little more professional without turning on portrait mode, follow these simple steps:

1️⃣ Start with a photo of a clear subject in the foreground.

2️⃣ Edit > Apply Blur (to the whole photo).

3️⃣ Layer the same photo exactly on top (middle/center aligned) and remove the background (from the top).

Voilà!
