🚨 Your inbox might be more dangerous than you think.

And not in the way you expect 😬

Recently, a serious vulnerability in Microsoft 365’s AI assistant, Copilot was discovered. It’s since been fixed, thankfully. But what’s important is what it tells us about the future of cyberthreats.

Let’s talk about something called a zero-click attack. I know that sounds technical, but the idea is simple. And worrying.

It’s an attack that requires no clicks, no downloads, no action from you at all. Just an email quietly sitting in your inbox is enough to set it off.

Here’s the short version: A hacker sends an email with hidden instructions. Copilot reads that email, thinks it’s a legitimate request, and follows those hidden commands, like sending your sensitive business data (contracts, financials, internal docs) straight to the attacker’s server.

It all happens in the background. No warning. You don’t even know it’s happened.

This particular flaw has been patched. But the takeaway is much bigger than one bug.

💡 We’re entering a new era of cybersecurity where AI tools meant to help us can be tricked into working against us.

AI assistants like Copilot are built to understand context and help us get things done. But that same intelligence can be manipulated. Instead of using malicious code (which most security tools are trained to detect), attackers are now using plain language to get what they want.

It’s clever. It’s subtle. And it’s only going to become more common.

So, what can you do?

🔵 Be aware that AI doesn’t mean invincible. Tools like Copilot are incredibly powerful, but they’re also new territory.�

🔵 Make sure your IT support partner is actively monitoring for emerging AI threats (not just the traditional stuff).�

🔵 And if you’re ever unsure about what your tools are doing (or what they could be doing), ask. Better safe than sorry.

🔒 Today, security is about understanding how the tools we trust every day could be turned against us if we’re not careful.

Some said they could “make an educated guess.”

⚠️ If your business is using Windows 10, it reaches end of life on October 14.

That means no more security updates or official support. And for businesses, that’s a big risk.

We already know that more than half of people are still on Windows 10. That’s not just a stat. It’s a security gap.

Here’s where it gets trickier…

Even if you know your business PCs are up to date, what about the personal laptops your team may be using?

💻 Your remote or hybrid employees might be:

• Using devices that can’t upgrade to Windows 11
• Working on outdated systems full of unpatched vulnerabilities
• Completely unaware their setup is putting your business data at risk

And with many businesses still embracing flexible or hybrid work, it’s easy for these risks to fly under the radar.

So, what can you do?

✅ Check what your team is using. Not just at the office, but at home.�
✅ Create a device policy that includes minimum system requirements, supported operating systems, and approved tools.�
✅ Make sure your team knows how (and why) to check their system version. And support them in upgrading if needed.

Windows 11 isn’t only a “nicer looking” version. It’s been built with better security, better performance, and a whole load of new productivity tools (especially with AI-powered Copilot baked in).

😐 Have you recently tried logging into your Windows laptop using face unlock in the dark… and it didn’t work?

You’re not imagining it.

And it’s not a bug.

Microsoft quietly made a change to Windows Hello that means face unlock no longer works in low-light settings. It’s caught a lot of people off guard.

Let me explain what’s going on (and why it matters for your business).

🔐 Windows Hello (which is the official name for face unlock) uses biometric tech. Usually infrared (IR) sensors to scan your face and log you in.
�
It’s fast, secure, and used to work great even in the dark. Those IR sensors don’t need visible light.

A few months ago, Microsoft patched a security vulnerability that affected Hello.

To fix it, they made it so that Windows Hello now also requires your we**am to “see” your face using visible light.

In other words:�

👉 Your IR sensors alone are no longer enough�
👉 If your we**am can’t see your face (because the room is too dark) no login for you

So if your screen is glowing but you’re sitting in a dim room and wondering why your usual face sign-in isn’t working anymore... well, now you know.

🔧 There is a quirky workaround: Disabling your we**am in Device Manager. That tricks Windows into falling back to IR-only login, which does work in the dark again. But of course, that means no we**am for video calls. So, it’s not ideal for most people.

If your team is using Windows Hello, especially remote staff working from home, this could become a daily frustration.
�
Now, to quickly log on, you’ve got to turn on a light or fiddle with your camera settings.

But bear in mind, this is a security-first change. Microsoft did it for good reasons. It’s a great reminder that convenience and security don’t always move in the same direction.

✅ Tip for you and your team: If you use face unlock and your workspace doesn’t have enough light, keep a PIN or fingerprint as a backup.

⏳ Tick tock. The clock is ticking for Windows 10.

Support officially ends on October 14.

The good news is… businesses are finally starting to move. Hooray!

According to new industry data, desktop PC shipments to businesses jumped 22% year on year this spring. That’s driven by companies racing to upgrade before the deadline.

💼 Interestingly, it’s mostly desktops being bought. That’s a sign that many businesses are embracing return-to-office setups and using this moment to refresh aging hardware.

But here’s the thing: Lots of businesses still haven’t made the switch. And time is running out.

🛑 After the deadline, Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates. That means every device still running it becomes a potential liability. Especially where staff are using older or personal machines for work.

✅ Now is the time to:

• Check what version of Windows your team is using
• Review hardware to make sure it's compatible with Windows 11
• Plan upgrades in a way that doesn’t disrupt your business

💻 Getting a new computer?

The setup process might finally stop being such a pain 🙌

Microsoft’s working on something that could make a big difference the next time you upgrade your PC. Especially if you’ve ever dreaded the hassle of transferring files, settings, apps, and logins to a new device.

It’s been testing updates to its Windows Backup app. And now it looks like it’s folding in a migration tool designed to help you move everything from your old PC to your new one, with less hassle.

It’s still in testing (for now), but here’s how it works so far…

🆕 Inside the Backup app, there’s now an option to:

• Back up to OneDrive or
• Transfer files to a new PC directly over the network

The idea is simple. Pair the two devices with a code, and Windows handles the rest. Files, apps, settings, even saved passwords, all moved over in one go. No more digging through folders, reinstalling software, or recreating your desktop from scratch.

If you’ve ever onboarded a new team member or upgraded your own device, you’ll know the pain of starting fresh. It eats up time. Stuff gets missed. People lose files. Productivity takes a hit.

This tool could change that, turning an afternoon of setup into something far smoother and faster. And it’s particularly helpful for businesses that don’t have an in-house IT department.

Maybe you can relate to this? When I open Outlook I see thousands of emails sitting there 😅

To be fair, they’re all read. But I have a habit of never deleting anything.

Important emails? “Better save that, just in case.”
�
Not-so-important ones? “Eh, I’ll deal with it later.”

(spoiler: I never do)

You get this, right?

Of course you do. And if you’re anything like me, you’ll be grateful to learn about an underrated Outlook feature called Sweep.

🧹 Sweep lets you take bulk actions on emails from a specific sender, either deleting them or moving them to a folder.

In seconds, I cleared out thousands of old emails I didn’t need anymore.

Even better, I started using it to organize the emails I do care about.

Now every email from a client goes into its own folder, automatically. And the same for emails from my team.

It’s easy to use:

• Open or select an email
• Click the three dots (...) and choose Sweep
• Pick what you want to do, like move all past and future emails from that sender to a folder

There’s even an option to “always keep the latest message and move the rest.”

Now that’s smart, right? 🤯

And while I was tidying up, I found another great Outlook trick you might like: Subscription Management.

Ever seen a little message at the top of your inbox that says “Getting too much email?”�Click it, and Outlook will show you all the mailing lists you're subscribed to. (I had over 100 🫣)

From there, you can unsubscribe directly, often without even leaving Outlook.

Between Sweep and Subscription Management, your inbox will feel so much more manageable. Give it a try.

Imagine your spellcheck could suggest ideas instead of just catching typos.

That’s the direction Microsoft is heading with Copilot. And I think it could make a real difference for businesses like yours 💡

If you haven’t explored Microsoft 365 Copilot yet, it’s like having a smart assistant built into Word, Excel, Teams and more. It’s powered by generative AI (that’s the kind of AI that can create things like summaries, ideas, and even documents from scratch).

But here’s the exciting part: Microsoft has just announced something called Copilot Tuning.

Instead of giving everyone the same generic help, you’ll soon be able to teach Copilot how your business works. Things like your processes, your language, even your company-specific templates and terminology.

Here’s what that could mean in practice:

✍️ You’re writing a proposal in Word. Instead of starting from scratch, Copilot offers suggestions based on your past proposals. Same tone, same structure. No digging through old files.

🧾 You’re handling accounting tasks. Copilot’s been tuned to help with the kind of analysis you need, not just general tips, but company-specific logic.

And you don’t need to be a tech whizz to make this happen. No coding. No data science degrees. There’s a point-and-click setup inside something called Copilot Studio, designed for everyday users.

You could give each department their own AI helper, trained on what matters most to them. Marketing. HR. Ops. Finance. Legal. Everyone gets a version of Copilot that speaks their language.

Will it replace your people?

No way.

But will it help them work faster, get unblocked quicker, and stop reinventing the wheel every Monday morning?

You bet.

If you've been Googling things the same way for years, it might be time to try something different: Google's new AI Mode.

Think of it like Search but with an engine that understands what you're trying to do (most of the time 😅).

Here’s how it works: Instead of giving you a list of links like old-school Google, AI Mode tries to answer your question. Not just with a quick paragraph at the top (like the AI Overview you might’ve seen), but with full breakdowns, comparisons, and even follow-up questions you didn’t know you needed to ask.

Ask it:

�📊 “Which is better for a small business: QuickBooks or Xero?”

Instead of sifting through endless comparison articles, you’ll get a clear breakdown of pricing, features, and who each is best suited for.

🖥️ Or: “Best laptops under $1,000 for remote employees who travel a lot?”

Rather than scrolling through generic lists, AI Mode will summarize the top picks based on battery life, weight, durability, and more.

Yes, it handles that level of detail.

You can find it by tapping the AI Mode button on the left-hand side of the Google Search page (currently rolling out in the US).

🔍 The trick? Be specific.

AI Mode is powerful, but very literal. It’s like having a super-helpful intern who does exactly what you say… but not always in the way you mean it.

It’s great for:

✅ Comparing options�
✅ Researching something new�
✅ Making sense of complex topics�
✅ Planning anything with lots of variables

But for quick things, like the weather or a phone number, stick with regular Google. It’s still faster.

⚠️ Just one small warning: AI Mode isn’t perfect.

Sometimes it gets facts a bit wrong. And like all AI tools, privacy matters. Because you’re giving it longer, more detailed queries, you’re sharing more than just a few keywords. Something to bear in mind if you're researching sensitive topics.

It’s like the start of a new kind of search – one that feels less like Googling and more like thinking out loud with help.

Give it a go. You might be surprised by what you find… or at least entertained by what it gets wildly wrong 😂

📅 Good news if you rely on Outlook to run your day.

Offline Calendar support is finally coming to New Outlook in Windows 11.

Until now, trying to create or edit calendar events without an internet connection was frustrating, to say the least.

You’d hit “Save” and just get a vague “something went wrong” error.

Then it’d vanish. And you’d have to start over when you were back online 😤

That’s changing.

Microsoft’s confirmed that the new Outlook will soon support offline calendar access, meaning you’ll be able to:

✅ Create events
✅ Edit events
✅ Delete events
�
All while you’re offline, like you already can with emails.

The update is already rolling out (gradually, as always), so don’t be surprised if it hasn’t shown up yet. Once it does, this should be a big help for anyone who travels, works on-the-go, or has flaky Wi-Fi in the office.

💡 Why does this matter for your business?

Because the calendar isn’t just where your meetings live. It’s where your time lives.
�
Being able to add a meeting, shift something around, or prep for a busy week without relying on a connection makes things simpler. And it stops small tech hiccups from slowing you down.

And there’s more coming too.

It’s also worth noting, Microsoft has softened its stance on Outlook Classic. You can now run it alongside the new version. A move likely made to keep paying users happy during the transition.

So no, Microsoft is not backing off from the new Outlook. But it’s listening, and that’s a good sign.

🧹 Microsoft’s given Edge a bit of a tidy up.

If you or your team use the Edge browser, here’s something worth knowing: Microsoft is stripping out a lot of features in Edge version 137. And some of them might have quietly disappeared from your workflow.

The cull has already started. Here’s what got the axe:�

❌ Image Editor�
❌ Image hover menus�
❌ Mini menu (those quick text options that pop up)�
❌ Built-in video upscaling�
❌ The Wallet Hub (the one with payment and crypto tools)

Microsoft says this is all part of a plan to simplify the experience. And to be fair, they haven’t just cut things for the sake of it.

Some tools are being folded into more useful places. For example, your saved cards and payment info are moving into the password manager area, alongside personal details and logins.

Makes sense.

💡 But if you’ve ever used Edge’s image editor for quick tweaks, or relied on mini menus for highlighting text, those are gone.

That said, it’s not all subtraction. There are a few solid additions:

• A reworked picture-in-picture mode with pause/play, skip and a progress bar (great for multitasking while watching training videos or webinars).
• Better Copilot integration, especially in business contexts. Edge can now summarize pages, suggest helpful prompts, and work more naturally with Microsoft 365 Copilot (if you’ve got a license).
• Some updates to how search (Ctrl+F) works. Eventually, that might tap into Copilot for smarter, context-aware results.

So, what’s the takeaway?

👉 If you or your team rely on specific Edge features, now’s a good time to review what’s changing.�
👉 Some tools you used last month might not be there next month.�
👉 And if you’re using Microsoft 365 Copilot, Edge is becoming an even more powerful place to get work done.

Edge 137 was released at the end of May. Hopefully you’ve updated and tried it already.

🛠️ Windows 11 is getting a little more advanced. In a good way.

Microsoft recently (and quietly) introduced something called Advanced Settings. A new page in Windows 11 that gives you more control over how things work behind the scenes.

If you’ve ever wanted to see the full file path in File Explorer. Or wished you could view file extensions without digging through menus. Or you're just tired of hidden folders playing hide and seek, this one’s for you👇

You’ll find it under:�

Settings > System > Advanced

It replaces the old "For Developers" page (remember that one?) but keeps everything from there and adds more useful tools.

Here are a few things you can now toggle with a single click:

✅ Show file extensions (like .docx, .jpg, .pdf)

👀 Show hidden/system files (great for troubleshooting)

🗂️ Display full folder path in the title bar of File Explorer

👤 Run apps as a different user from the Start menu

🔌 Show empty drives (so USB sticks show up even when blank)

And there’s something especially interesting for technical teams or businesses that use version control.

At the bottom of this page, there’s a new File Explorer + version control section that lets you link Git folders (like project code or configuration repositories).

That means developers can manage versions right from File Explorer. No extra tools needed.

Even better: Microsoft has open-sourced this new settings page on GitHub and will keep updating it via the Windows Store. That means more features will be added, and faster.

🔧 In short, this isn’t just for developers. It’s for anyone who likes having a bit more control over their PC.

If you employ remote workers or technical staff, this could make Windows setups a bit cleaner, faster, and easier to customize without needing third-party tools or digging through Registry settings.

🖥️ Ever opened some software… to have it vanish off the side of your screen?

You know it’s running…

You can see it in the taskbar…

You just can’t find it.

Or grab it. Or close it. Or do anything with it 😩

It usually happens if you’ve had a second monitor plugged in (maybe at home or in a meeting room). Or if you’ve been using Remote Desktop. Now, the window is stuck in no man’s land.

This is one of those small but super annoying tech problems. But good news: It’s easy to fix, if you know the trick.

Here’s how to rescue a window that’s gone off-screen in Windows 11👇

🧭 Option 1: Task View shortcut

• Hit Windows key + Tab to open Task View (or click the little icon on the taskbar).
• Right-click the window that’s missing and choose Snap Left or Snap Right.
• Hit Esc to exit Snap View.
• Now you can grab the window and drag it wherever you want.

It’s back!

(Alternatively, you can click the app in the taskbar and tap Windows key + Left/Right Arrow until it slides into view.)

🎯 Option 2: The old-school keyboard move

• Press Alt + Tab to highlight the app.
• With the app selected, hit Alt + Space, then tap M (for Move).
• You’ll see your mouse change shape (four arrows), now just use your arrow keys to pull the window back into view.

This still works, even if you can’t see the window at all.

And yes, this trick dates to before Windows 10, but it’s still a lifesaver.

Sadly, Windows 11 dropped the old “Cascade windows” option from Windows 10, which was a quick fix for this. So now you’ve got to use the slightly nerdier shortcuts. But once you know them, they’re quick and reliable.

💡 If you have a team using multiple monitors, docking stations, or remote work setups, it’s worth sharing this with your people. It could save you a few calls to IT.
