And thatās a wrap, what an epic four months of campaigning that was. A huge learning experience, many ups and downs, but all absolutely worth it to see this movement for a better future for people and the planet growing so massively.
I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been involved and volunteered their time over the past 4 months, these campaigns are built on people power, so we canāt do it without you, especially to my small team, my family and my partner in crime for supporting me.
While it would have been nice to achieve a higher result in Corangamite, I am stoked with what we did achieve considering the forces we had working against us, and nationally, we recorded our highest vote ever. We had so many new volunteers getting involved and more people jumping on board and spreading our message, and thatās what itās all about. Itās not always about campaigning to win, itās about movement building, and thatās what we did.
Australia said no to Duttonās politics of division, culture wars, scare campaigns and climate distractions, and weāre celebrating that. Tomorrow we need to push Labor to go bigger and do better for people and the planet. Democracy doesnāt just happen every three years at the ballot box, it happens every day, with our words and our actions, so letās be democratic and make sure we push the next government to act boldly on the crises that we face.
Everyone has been asking me whatās next! For now, itāll be some time away time relax and reset, and then I might look at exploring some new ways of creating, potentially with a podcast, but Iām not too sure yet! What I am sure of is that there is hope in this world, even if it doesnāt always feel like it. People do care, so my next mission is to help turn that care into action.
Lots of love,
Mitch š
