Meanwhile, GM Hikaru Nakamura made a triumphant return to the 2800 club, while Women's World Champion Ju Wenjun cruised to victory in her tournament.
At the Madrid Chess Festival, Levy Rozman, also known as Gotham Chess, was the sole leader in the main event. He defeated Cuban GM Lelys Martínez in a thrilling match.
