As Langport looks forward to a 4-week road closure followed by 3 weeks of traffic lights to sort out the railway bridge on North Street, we thought you might like to check out this Network Rail timelapse footage of a railway bridge replacement job in Southend-on-Sea 12 years ago which took.....wait for it....TWO DAYS. Funny that.

We're all very sad and angry to hear about our lovely local river passenger boat service the Duchess of Cocklemoor being vandalised this week. Moored down near Black Bridge on Tuesday evening, this was the sight that greeted owners' eyes on the Wednesday. The bilge pump, which runs constantly to drain the deck and hull, had been switched off and so it flooded and partially sank. Mud was thrown over and in to parts of the vessel and onboard items thrown in to the water. It's all now been drained and the Duchess is afloat but a lot of flood damage has been caused to kit and equipment inside.

The BIBIC Garden Party in the grounds of Hurds Hill House is this Sunday. It's over Bow Bridge in the Curry direction, round the bend and up the large driveway on the left before you get to the Wick turning. Worth a look if you've never been up there! 👍

Steam Fair, Traction Engine Rally, Steam Spectacular - whatever you want to call it - it's that time of year again folks. Plenty of shade if it's hot and shelter if it's wet. Lots going on both days. Great venue with an impressive skyscape up there on the field. Live music, food & drink, entertainment, market stalls and the sweet sweet smell of steam engines 😊😊😊

Have you checked out Bowdens Bar yet? It's up at the caravan & campsite at Bowdens Crest just under a mile outside Langport. Opening hours are 5:30pm till late on Fridays, 2pm till late on Saturdays and midday till 3pm on Sundays. Look at that beer garden view! 👍👍👍
