SUNDAY BULLETIN: Named by the Met Office as Storm Amy, strong winds and rain are expected to move in across Langport & Huish Episcopi this afternoon (hitting the old Kelways Inn first just for old time's sake) and then staying until at least Monday afternoon (when the rent gets too high) So it's gonna be a wet & windy one folks! HAPPY AUTUMN 😊

THE STATE WE'RE IN. 3 young men, wearing facemasks, were watched by staff and customers as they shoplifted Jack Daniels & other alcohol from Langport Tesco this afternoon. The 'security' netting around the bottles meant each thief could carry 3 in each hand. So in all 18 bottles were stolen. Here, pictured, is the shelf moments after the raid. This is now happening all over the country with shop staff no longer permitted to challenge thieves (or understandably not wanting to) and supermarkets either not hiring security guards or when they do - they can't stop them either. And so it's the green light for anyone who fancies a bit of shoplifting. Does this mean we can now all go in once a week and fill up our trollies for nothing? Of course it doesn't. WHAT A STATE WE'RE IN. To quote one of The Sun newspaper's most famous headlines from many decades ago 'Would the last person to leave the country please turn the lights out' oh and grab a crate of JD as you're leaving would you? Cheers! 👍👍👍

Curry's not in Langport. Surely it's the next village along? Ah but when you see this sign on the pavement outside the Langport Arms then it means Curry IS in Langport. On Friday mornings anyway. Down Whatley to be precise. Unless the weather's appalling, the Spice & Rice team say they'll be serving every Friday from 11:30am. Getting hungry just thinking about it and it's only Wednesday!
