If you are a summer lover, I’m sorry, but this week won’t be for you.

HURRICANE KATRINA: 20 YEARS LATER
Katrina made landfall on August 29th at 6:10 AM. Here is strong wording from the National Weather Service in New Orleans, LA from the 28th. The message describes how the New Orleans area will be uninhabitable for weeks, or longer.

Very strong wording. I haven't seen this from any message from the National Weather Service before.

Here is your weekend forecast:

Today, temperatures will remain in the low 80s across the region with temperatures dipping into the 60s during the night. There could be a few thunderstorms late this afternoon into evening, but it is nothing I am concerned about. The highest chance remains northwest of the Fox Valley.

Saturday, temperatures will stay into the mid-upper 70s across Wisconsin and low to mid-80s across Northern Illinois. Saturday Night, temperatures will dip into the 50s across the region.

Sunday, temperatures will dip into the low-mid 70s across Northern Illinois. Wisconsin, you will stay in the upper 60s for the most part, maybe a low 70 in some areas. Low temperatures will dip into the high 40s during the night.

The weekend will be sunny regionwide. I don't know about you, but I am going to enjoy this weekend.

If you are going to the Packers preseason game tomorrow, it will be beautiful weather for it.

Some nearby weather-related events I'm attending soon:

Tonight, I am attending a double feature showing of Twister and Twisters at an area drive in theater. The event is going to showcase storm chasers from across the country and their vehicles, The Extreme (a vehicle replica from Twister), and a meet and greet with Sean Whalen, who played Sanders in Twister.

September 12th, I am attending an event dubbed 'Dominate the Storm'. The event is held by Reed Timmer, showcasing his stories from the field. I purchased a meet and greet pass with Reed. Reed was the first storm chaser I ever watched and I'm ecstatic to get to meet him.

Both of these events I am excited for and can't wait!

Hurricane Erin is still out there spinning in the Atlantic. Erin made it up to a Category 5 hurricane this past weekend after undergoing rapid intensification (gained 80mph within 24 hours). Fortunately, the center of Erin will stay well off the east coast, but impacts will be felt across the coast. Tropical Storm Warnings and Storm Surge Warnings are in effect for the North Carolina coast and Tropical Storm Watches are in effect for the Virginia coast.

Massive waves, heavy rain, storm surge flooding, and tropical storm force winds are expected to slam the coastline. Some North Carolina communities, especially those in the Outer Banks were told to evacuate due to the forecasted conditions. Waves of 15-20 feet is expected and that will cause storm surge flooding.

Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina stated they had 60 water rescues on Monday due to the strong rip currents. Many east coast communities are feeling the effects of rip currents right now, and it will continue to get worse as the hours go on.
