http://twitter.com/societyonemusic By 2009, SMG expanded beyond urban music into rock. Then came 2025.

Founded in 2007, Society Music Group (SMG) was built on one simple vision to create a home where artists could grow, thrive, and make history. From day one, SMG became a force in the Orlando music scene, bridging genres from rock to pop, R&B to hip hop, and giving independent artists the platform they deserved. Our rise began with a breakout partnership between SMG and Rakega Records for the group

TREAL, whose single “I’m Not Locked Down” became one of Central Florida’s biggest hits. The record dominated local radio, led to a major deal with Universal Republic, and cemented SMG’s reputation as a powerhouse in artist development. The momentum continued with the signing of 3AM, a talented group that quickly caught the attention of industry giants like Jive, J Records, Universal, and Def Jam. SMG eventually secured a major deal for them, but as the saying goes, fame can be fragile and the group disbanded soon after. Undeterred, SMG signed Status BLAK, whose journey took them to BET’s 106 & Park, MTV’s Making the Band with Day 26, and multiple award wins. The CEO discovered The Shoreline, a dynamic band performing at Orlando’s House of Blues. After months of talks, they signed to SMG and dropped their debut EP, Fake It Till You Make It, in front of a sold-out crowd. The project moved over 15,000 CDs, landed distribution deals with Hot Topic and Park Ave CDs, and hit iTunes hard. The Shoreline toured relentlessly, performing on the Vans Warped Tour and landing music placements with American Idol, ESPN, and TV One. In 2010, SMG secured a distribution deal with JMD/Universal Music Group a major milestone. But the team’s vision stretched beyond the traditional label model. After a year and a half, SMG made the bold decision to walk away and rebuild on its own terms. The following years brought silence. The CEO focused on other ventures, including launching a global podcast and an online radio network that reached audiences worldwide. But in 2019, tragedy struck. The passing of longtime friend, producer, and collaborator J. Harv brought the label to a halt. SMG went dark, unsure if it would ever return. The resurrection. With a renewed spirit, a mix of original staff and fresh talent, and a vision sharper than ever, Society Music Group is back stronger, wiser, and ready to make noise again. This isn’t just a comeback. It’s a rebirth. The storm is coming. Stay tuned for the new era of Society Music Group the music, the visuals, the tours, and the story still being written.
