Historical Light Masonic Podcast

Our Purpose:

Historical Light is a Podcast, YouTube Show, and Online Community launched in 2016 aimed to bring forth the rich history of the Craft. Not only the history you read about in the books but also that history of a more personal nature. Some of the best times I have had visiting a lodge is getting to sit and chat with an older Brother about his life experiences and family history within the fraternity. Not only why Masonry has been important to him but generations back as well. There are so many tales to be told between our Buildings, Members, Events, and Family History. With this show, we aim to share, preserve, and Honor these memories for years to come.

Meet the Historians:

Host and Founder Alex G. Powers

A historian and esoteric enthusiast. As a fifth-generation Freemason, he carries a hearty interest in antiquities of the Masonic institution. He currently serves as the Director of the Kansas Lodge of Research as well as District Deputy Grand Master for Area 9A in Kansas, he is also a Past Master and currently serving as Tyler and Lodge Historian for Gardner Lodge No. 65. Brother Powers is the host and founder of Historical Light, which he started back in 2016. Already in great admiration of history behind Freemasonry, he wanted to know more. As a personal mission to dig deeper into the history seeking further light he launched the show and appendant platforms of Historical Light which has grown into what it is today. He is also the author of “A History of Gardner Masonic Lodge No. 65” with additional projects in the works.

Co Host Bro. Robert W. Marshall

A passionate historian and hails from Waco, TX. Robert proudly holds a degree in history from Baylor University and is deeply emerged in constant research on a wide variation of historical topics with a strong focus on those in Freemasonry. He is no stranger to the show, after several guest appearances on Historical Light in the Past he was asked in 2019 to come on board as a permanent co host. Brother Marshall holds a deep respect for all history, but most especially that involving the eras our gentle Craft which precede us. Offically Robert Serves proudly as the Asst. Dep. Director of the Kansas Lodge of Research and Secretary of Waco Lodge No. 92 of which he is also a Past Master.
