𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀, 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀

Teaching is a process that often goes unnoticed in our everyday rushed life. It needs 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 to 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲, 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 our learning, and help with the journey towards personal 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵. Teachers' Day provides an opportunity for us students to acknowledge and express our gratitude for their guidance.

Our teachers move beyond 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 yet are set to succeed. Teaching is a combination of 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 and 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲. Even through the toughest times, teachers approach with strength to fight tiredness, constantly leaving significant lessons of 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 and the 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 to face life’s obstacles. The words of a teacher mark not 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀 but the 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.

Year after year, Teachers' Day comes as a respite from our daily routine, being a reminder to individuals whose labor is hardly seen. We rarely glimpse the composure they have to explain a concept several times, the 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 spent working on lesson plans, or the 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 that drives them to move and persevere. Even so, teachers continuously perform their jobs 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆, 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 in a manner we are unaware of.

The saying “Happy Teachers' Day” should mean more than a day. The sense of gratitude teachers instill shouldn’t just be on a certain date but also during our everyday lives when we grow up and recall their teachings. A teacher’s influence stays even in the different fields we opt for and the proud individuals we become. For that, more than we can express, thank you.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | Here is the final tally of each team in the 2025 Integrated Laboratory Schools Olympics, this September 29th to October 1st.

The Hydra Waves garnered the title of 'Champion', earning 66 gold medals, 48 silver medals, and 33 bronze medals.

Again, congratulations to each team, and continue to 𝘀𝗼𝗮𝗿 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 for 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵!

𝗜𝘀 𝗩𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?

The revelation of the misuse of flood control project funds sparked an outburst among the Filipinos. Unable to remain silent, a supposed-to-be peaceful protest was held at Metro Manila’s EDSA Shrine on the 21st day of September, 2025. Estimated to be more than a hundred thousand Filipinos are said to have participated in the rally.

The anti-corruption rally escalated to a sudden rampage. Riots broke out in three parts of Manila—Ayala Bridge, Recto, and Mendiola. Young protesters at Ayala Bridge set a trailer truck on fire, while others in Recto damaged traffic lights and clashed with the police to condemn their anger towards corruption.

Violence was used by two opposite sides: the protesters and the policemen. The police were given permission to injure protesters, hitting them and using guns that resulted in deaths, injuries, and missing cases. Amid the riot, a hotel in Recto was damaged—according to rallyists, a civilian officer shot one of the individuals and hid inside the hotel.

More than 200 individuals were arrested; some are said to be innocent and were only arrested because of their presence and appearance. The police brutality that took place during the rally and the suspiciously small amount of news about it enraged the Filipinos even more. People asked the media why there was little to no news about the deaths and missing people caused by the police, while there was more news about the side of the policemen.

After the revolutions that occurred in Nepal and Indonesia, several Filipinos want to follow the neighboring countries’ way to take down corruption—a way that is ferocious. Filipinos shame their own countrymen for being all talk and no action. For them, violence is the only way for those who lead to hear what they are fighting for.

From the very beginning, the people in power abused the kindness of the nation. Citizens suffer from the cruelty of floods, losing loved ones, and the destruction of lives while those who are supposed to serve them lay back and enjoy their life with the hard-earned money of the citizens.

Violence will never be a solution to address any issue. As the saying goes, "words are sharper than a sword." Choose peace and fairness, fight with the use of your mind: take our national hero Jose Rizal as an inspiration for change. It is nonetheless inevitable for violence to arise when one does not take accountability for the suffering they have caused.

𝗡𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗧, 𝗡𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗜𝗡.

As freedom of expression blooms under the digital age, we look back at an era where oppression was the norm, and the opposition was a rarity.

Exactly 53 years ago, on the 21st of September, 1972, President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. declared martial law, placing the entire nation under military rule for nine years.

In the span of 9 years, the nation went from an emerging economy filled with glimmers of hope, to a nation riddled by authoritarianism, corruption, and ill-gotten wealth experienced only by the oligarchs and the elite.

It was only on January 17, 1981, when Martial Law was lifted for good, but by then, the damage had been done.

About 3,257 extrajudicial killings, 35,000 documented tortures, and 70,000 incarcerations plagued the Philippines, leaving the country in disarray, and shell-shocked from the effects of Martial Law, marking this as one of the darkest periods in modern Philippine history.

About five decades later, we commemorate the brave Filipinos, who stood and fought for our freedom in the face of tyranny and rampant abuse. Again, NEVER FORGET, and NEVER AGAIN.

𝟯:𝟱𝟮 𝗔𝗠

The student's face sank into his palms, a soft sigh after, elbows sunk into the wooden desk among littered books, loose notes, a mug of long-cold coffee, green highlighters, and dull pencils jammed between pages. Darkness pressed on the bedroom save for the weak glow of the monitor, which spilled a jumbled wall of words from a lesson chapter that had lost its title. Images, paragraphs, and bullet points blurred into one unreadable block of shapes and color.

He pulled his face back, the chair protesting with a creak, and yawned. Eyes stinging, dry, and rimmed with eyebags, he stared at the screen to check the time. Whatever number it showed, it was an AM hour - another one of those numbers and letters that barely registered like the pages before. As easy to read as it was to forget.

How long he'd been studying, rereading the same lines and failing to understand a grammatical rule or a stubborn programming code had long been beyond him. There were no questions, only a carousel of possibilities from the pride of earning an immaculate golden medal and the roar of an audience, the comforting or damning silence following the reading of a report card, an unseen future decided by every decimal - every “could be” treated like a verdict.

Maybe it mattered. Maybe it didn’t. Either way, it felt heavy to even think about, and it was all there was to think about. Still slouching back on the chair with a not-so-optimal back posture, he stared at the time, 3:52AM. How ordinary had it become to push themselves past the limits? Each shot of pitch-black bitter coffee, every hobby sacrificed for another extracurricular, each hour of sleep surrendered to cramming, every “one more day” said, every worry continued to be worried about. All for a score and ultimately a number on a paper. Unfortunately, a valuable number on a paper.

What has he not done? What has slipped out of his hands? What has he botched or ignored? Too late to ask, answer, or undo. If things went wrong, it wasn’t the end, yet that thought offered little comfort tonight. But effort had been given regardless; mistakes are inevitable as all things are never perfect. You can only do your best, he reminded himself, put yourself first.

Rest, he thought. He needed to rest. Reaching for the mouse, he shut the monitor down, closed the scattered books, rubbed his reddened eyes with his weary hands, and sat on the edge of the bed before letting himself lie down. Rest well, he told himself, tomorrow would be another day.

𝗦𝗮 𝗡𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗶 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘀, 𝗧𝗶𝗯𝗼𝗸 𝗡𝗴 𝗣𝘂𝘀𝗼 𝗞𝗼'𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘀

Mayroon ka bang nakilalang tao na isang ngiti niya lamang ay kayang magpagaan ng buong araw mo?

Sa totoo lang, ang high school ay isa sa pinakamasayang bahagi ng buhay estudyante.

Hindi lang ito tungkol sa pag-aaral at pagsusulit, kundi puno rin ng mga alaalang hindi mo basta- basta malilimutan. Tulad na lamang ng mga pagkakataon na bigla mo siyang makikita sa hallway, at tila ba tumitigil ang mundo mo. 'Yong tipong hindi mo naman inaasahan, ngunit sapat na ang isang tingin at ngiti niya para magbigay ng kilig at magpabilis ng tibok sa dibdib mo.

Ngunit hindi lamang kilig ang dala niya, siya rin ang nagiging dahilan kung bakit may gana at inspirasyon kang bumangon at pumasok tuwing umaga.

Sa huli, ang high school love ay hindi lang tungkol sa kilig at pag-iibigan. Isa rin itong paalala na kahit sa murang edad, kaya nating magmahal, masaktan, matuto, at magpatawad. At kahit lumipas ang maraming taon, matatandaan pa rin natin ang mga matatamis na alaala ng high school.
