Title: The Night Shift by Alex Finlay
Rate: 5/5
Format: Audiobook
Pages: 384

Blurb: Fifteen years later, more teenage employees are attacked at an ice cream store in the same town, and again only one makes it out alive.

In the aftermath of the latest crime, three lives intersect: the lone survivor of the Blockbuster massacre who’s forced to relive the horrors of her tragedy; the brother of the fugitive accused, who’s convinced the police have the wrong suspect; and FBI agent Sarah Keller who must delve into the secrets of both nights―stirring up memories of teen love and lies―to uncover the truth about murders on the night shift.

Review: The Night Shift was my first book that I read by Alex Finlay and it did not disappoint! I listened to the audiobook so I was able to finish within 24 hours, and loved how it kept me intrigued the whole time! I’ll keep this review short and sweet as I don’t want to give any of the details away!

It is a dual timeline where in 1999, four girls at a Blockbuster Video where attacked and only one of them survived bringing us 15 years later where another group of 4 where attacked while working at an ice cream shop and only one survived.

I was not able to guess anything that was going on and the plot line kept on my toes as I was trying so hard to not miss anything! The characters were well written, the chapters are short, and overall just a fantastic read!

Highly recommend!

Title: The Roommate Situation by Katie Bailey
Rating: 4/5
Format: Audiobook
Pages: 278

Blurb: Conor Brady is the hottest man I have ever laid eyes on. Ever. He’s also my new roommate.

In the past few days, I became jobless, homeless, and boyfriendless.

So, I did what any 28-year-old woman with her life together would do: I ran. Far, far away from my life in New York and straight to my big brother’s house in Atlanta.

Only, it turns out that my brother is away on a business trip. And, he failed to tell me that a full-on, godlike hottie—who happens to be a premier house flipper—has taken up residence in the spare bedroom while his enormous new house is being renovated.

There’s a million reasons why I shouldn’t fall for Conor.

But our chemistry is undeniable.

Which means I have a teeny, tiny situation on my hands…

Review: The Romance Situation was a very cute and sweet RomCom. The chemistry between Conor and Jess was well written and SWOON worthy. The way Conor was with Jess (his best friend’s sister BTW). The humor, the banter, and the scorching attraction was sweet and fun, and kept me laughing and smiling.

I loved the story between Conor and Jess, and highly recommend if you love a good RomCom!

Title: Do Not Disturb by Freida McFadden
Rating: 4/5
Format: Audiobook
Pages: 327

Blurb: Unfortunately, the Baxter Motel isn’t the quiet, safe haven it seemed to be. The motel has a dark and disturbing past. And in the dilapidated house across the way, the silhouette of Nick’s ailing wife is always at the window. Always watching.

In the morning, Quinn must leave the motel. She’ll pack up her belongings and get back on the road to freedom.

But first, she must survive the night.

Review: I enjoyed Do Not Disturb! It kept me entertained and intrigued throughout the whole book, and I couldn’t stop thinking about Greta and her mirrors, thinking “why does she have so many?” I didn’t see the first plot twist coming, but I did kind of guess the second one.

In typical Freida fashion, Do Not Disturb was so twisty, suspenseful and fast paced. Loved it!

Recommend especially if you want something that gives off Bates Motel vibes!

Title: The Perfect Son by Freida McFadden
Rating: 4/5
Format: Audiobook
Pages: 320

Blurb: All families have secrets. But some secrets are deadly.

Erika Cass has a perfect family and a perfect life. Until, one quiet evening, two detectives show up at her front door.

“Mrs. Cass, we were hoping your son could answer a few questions about the girl who disappeared last night...”

A high school girl has vanished from their quiet neighborhood, and the police suspect the worst. Erika’s teenage son, Liam, was the last person to see the girl alive.

Erika has always sensed something… different in her seemingly perfect oldest child. He’s charming, smart, and popular, but mothers have the best instincts, and Erika knows there’s more to her son than meets the eye. She wants to believe he’s innocent, but as the evidence mounts, she can’t deny the truth―Liam may have done the unthinkable.

Review: The Perfect Son by Freida was definitely a page turner for me (or whatever is equivalent to the audiobook version).

This one had me wondering if I actually know my family members as well as I think I do! As usual this was fast paced and a quick read for me. I didn’t see some of the twists, but I was able to guess the major one at the end.

Recommend, especially for spooky season!

LIGHTS OUT edition and I am obsessed! 😍 so excited to add this book to my library and read sometime this month!

Been MIA due to being physically and mentally tired. Work, school and everything else have come swinging into my life at full speed which sucks because i haven’t read as much as I’d like. I’ve got a few post ready to go though and hopefully scheduling my content will help 😅

Title: The Broken Girls by Simone St. James
Rating: 4.5/5
Format: Audiobook
Pages: 336

Blurb: Vermont, 1950. There’s a place for the girls whom no one wants—the troublemakers, the illegitimate, the ones too smart for their own good. It’s called Idlewild Hall, and local legend says the boarding school is haunted. Four roommates bond over their whispered fears, their friendship blossoming—until one of them mysteriously disappears....

Vermont, 2014. Twenty years ago, journalist Fiona Sheridan’s elder sister’s body was found in the overgrown fields near the ruins of Idlewild Hall. And although her sister’s boyfriend was tried and convicted of the murder, Fiona can’t stop revisiting the events, unable to shake the feeling that something was never right about the case.

When Fiona discovers that Idlewild Hall is being restored by an anonymous benefactor, she decides to write a story about it. But a shocking discovery during renovations links the loss of her sister to secrets that were meant to stay hidden in the past—and a voice that won’t be silenced....

Review: Simone St James does it again for me with The Broken Girls!

The beginning of the book is a bit on the slower side, but as the story started to take off more, I was hooked into trying to figure out the who, what, where, when and why of the story! I did not see any of the twist and turns coming and the author tied everything up neatly at the end which I really enjoy!

This book had a creepy ghost story and spooky vibe to it which I really loved!

Highly recommend especially for your spooky TBR this fall!
