Television & New Media is thrilled to announce our fabulous special issue “Genre After Media, co-edited by Lauren Berliner and Jonathan Cohn. The issue tracks the continued relevance of genre in media studies and shows how it can be employed across the critical humanities to investigate new media and new objects, as well as to reexamine “well-trodden paths” with a new lens.

Contributors include: Andrea Braithwaite on Hallmark, Caetlin Benson-Allott on direct-to-video horror, Gerald Sim on genre in algorithmic cinema, Bethan Jones on neo-cult in the post-TV age, Kathleen McHugh on genre as feminist platform, Hsin-Pey Peng on genre and the East Asian global media market, Andrea Andiloro on genre as atmospheric assemblage in video games, Laurel Westrup on remediation and generic recombination in music video, and Jaimie Baron on the dated film as revelatory genre.
