Native Tribes of North America Mapped ✔

The ancestors of living Native Americans arrived in North America about 15 thousand years ago.
As a result, a wide diversity of communities, societies, and cultures finally developed on the continent over the millennia. The population figure for Indigenous peoples in the Americas before the 1492 voyage of Christopher Columbus was 70 million or more.
About 562 tribes inhabited the contiguous U.S. territory. Ten largest North American Indian tribes: Arikara, Cherokee, Iroquois, Pawnee, Sioux, Apache, Eskimo, Comanche, Choctaw, Cree, Ojibwa, Mohawk, Cheyenne, Navajo, Seminole, Hope, Shoshone, Mohican, Shawnee, Mi’kmaq, Paiute, Wampanoag, Ho-Chunk, Chumash, Haida. Below is the tribal map of Pre-European North America.
The old map below gives a Native American perspective by placing the tribes in full flower ~ the “Glory Days.” It is pre-contact from across the eastern sea or, at least, before that contact seriously affected change. Stretching over 400 years, the time of contact was quite different from tribe to tribe.
For instance, the “Glory Days” of the Maya and Aztec came to an end very long before the interior tribes of other areas, with some still resisting almost until the 20th Century. At one time, numbering in the millions, the native peoples spoke close to 4,000 languages. The Americas’ European conquest, which began in 1492, ended in a sharp drop in the Native American population through epidemics, hostilities, ethnic cleansing, and slavery.
When the United States was founded, established Native American tribes were viewed as semi-independent nations, as they commonly lived in communities separate from white immigrants.

Missed the first 20 minutes of the party dedicated to the end of filming of his new movie at one of the clubs in New York.
He waited patiently in the rain to be let in.
No one recognized him.
The club owner said: “I didn''t even know Keanu was standing in the rain waiting to get in - he didn''t say anything to anyone.”
""He travels by public transport.""
""He easily communicates with homeless people on the streets and helps them.""
- He was only 60 years old (September 2, 1964)
- He can only eat hot dogs in the park, sitting among normal people.
- After filming one of the ""Matrix"", he gave all the stuntmen a new motorcycle - in recognition of their skills.
- He gave up most of the salaries of the costume designers and computer scientists who drew the special effects on ""The Matrix"" - deciding that their share of the film''s budget was assessed short.
- He reduced his salary for the movie ""The Devil''s Advocate"" to have enough money to invite Al Pacino.
- Almost at the same time his best friend passed away; His girlfriend lost a child and soon died in a car accident, and his sister suffered from leukemia.
Keanu didn''t fail: he donated $5 million to the clinic that treated his sister, refused to be filmed (to be with her), and founded the Leukemia Foundation, donating significant amounts from each fee for the movie.
You may have been born a man, but stay a man..

Ute musicians play morache for the Bear Dance.A number of Uncompahgre Ute Indian men, several of them still well-known today, sit around a box used as a resonator for their moraches – rasps – for the spring Bear Dance. Based on the apparent ages of the known (to us) men shown, it would seem to have been taken right around 1900.We have positively identified four of the men: sixth from the left (counting the man not facing the camera) is Captain Jenks (sometimes spelled JINKS; we don’t know his Ute name); seventh from left is Chief Sam Atchee, after whom the Uintah Railroad town was named; ninth is Pasecho. Two men stand behind the seated musicians, out of focus. The one on the right is Chief John McCook (1851-1937), Chipeta’s brother. (Because Chipeta (1843-1924) was not a Ute by birth but a kidnapped Kiowa Apache raised by the Utes, McCook was not Chipeta’s biological brother. But family is family.)Several other men in photograph look familiar to us, but we did not find photographic matches in our search. If anyone knows who they were, please do share! The instrument each of them is preparing to play, the morache, is a rasp carved usually from a piece of wood and played with the leg bone of a deer. The box they rest the moraches on usually has a sheet metal top so it acts like a resonator. The rasping is meant to symbolize the growl of a bear or the sound of thunder. The Ute Bear Dance is culturally unique to the Utes and was first recorded by Spanish explorers in the fifteenth century. It is not known how long its origin precedes that, but it could be hundreds or even thousands of years. Ute legend has it that two hunters came upon a bear in the woods scratching at or scratching himself upon a tree. While one of the hunters resumed the hunt, the other stayed to watch the bear’s mysterious behavior. The bear, in gratitude to the hunter for not killing him while he was engaged in this activity, then taught the hunter the bear dance.
Traditionally, the dance is a four- or five-day-long ladies’-choice dance held in the early spring, but in recent years, it has been moved to May or June to better conform to school calendars.

In Cherokee culture, women held significant positions and enjoyed certain privileges and responsibilities.Women in Cherokee society were considered equals to men and could earn the title of War Women. They had the right to participate in councils and make decisions alongside men. This equality sometimes led outsiders to make derogatory remarks, such as the accusation of a "petticoat government" by the Irish trader Adair.Clan kinship was matrilineal among the Cherokee, meaning that family lineage and inheritance were traced through the mother's side. Children grew up in their mother's house, and maternal uncles held the role of teaching boys essential skills related to hunting, fishing, and tribal duties.Women owned houses and their furnishings, and marriages were often negotiated. In the event of a divorce, a woman would simply place her spouse's belongings outside the house. Cherokee women had diverse responsibilities, including caring for children, cooking, tanning skins, weaving baskets, and cultivating fields. Men contributed to some household chores but primarily focused on hunting.Cherokee girls learned various skills by observing and participating in their community. They learned story, dancing, and acquired knowledge about their heritage. Women were integral to the Cherokee society, and their roles played a central part in the community's functioning and adaptation to changing circumstances.
