I had an interesting conversation with someone the other day.

This lady is an influencer and we were talking about leveraging social media and we got onto what I do.

She asked me what my short term goal was and I answered, very quickly, that I’d love to have the ability to retire on my 50th birthday.

She had a little chuckle and said -

“At 50? How boring will your life be then? Doesn’t your job give you something to do?”

I do enjoy my job. I’m only there two days a week, sometimes three if others are on holidays, I love the people I work with and the people I help but it’s still a job.

So I’ll pose a quick question……

What does the word retirement mean to you?

I think for many it’s doing absolutely nothing. It’s working until you are either too old or sick to turn up or, you’ve reached the age of 65, 67 or whatever retirement age is, and you collect your pension and super and you then estimate how long you’ve got left to live and hope it’ll be enough.

To me it’s so very different!!!

Retirement to me is retiring from the things that don’t serve me anymore. It’s having enough to be able to step away from my job and into what I really love and stand for.

So what is that you ask?

It’s being able to mentor women to be their best version of themselves.

It’s about showing them they truly have choices.

It’s about giving them the answers to being able to stay home with their kids or to step into their best lives on their own.

It’s about bringing families together so FIFO partners can be home.

It’s about showing women how to tap into their dreams and vision for life and showing them how they can take steps to achieving them.

I stand for women.

For families.

For choice.

For freedom, both time and financial because they aren’t mutually exclusive.

That’s what retirement means to me and there’s nothing boring about that.

Your kids are watching how you treat your dreams.

I recently had the incredible opportunity to work alongside the amazing Denise Turner during our recent retreat, and I am beyond inspired by her journey.

Denise’s story is one of resilience and transformation.

Before 2018, she was working in the aged care sector, feeling overworked, underpaid, and constrained by a capped income.

A pivotal moment came when she realised she didn’t want to spend the next 20 years in the same cycle.

Determined to change her path, Denise ventured into the online business world.

Since then, she’s built a successful online business, allowing her to travel the world and live life on her terms.

Her courage to step into the unknown and create a life of freedom is truly inspiring.

To have women with this level of success behind them, giving their time with no financial gain to themselves to mentor other women succeed is truly inspirational Its gratitude tgat i cant put into words.

Working with Denise was a reminder that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams and that with determination, anything is possible.

Who influences you?

Often we get these great ideas and, when we share them, people throw their opinions around. Some might even talk you out of your next dream.

The question I’ll ask you is are they where you want to be? Because if they aren’t, I’d be very careful about taking their advice.

People have their self limitations. We all have them unless we shift our mindset. Why can’t you own a Ferrari? Is it because your neighbour or half of FB said you can’t? Do they own a Ferrari? Because if they don’t you shouldn’t be taking their advice because it won’t get you one. Find the woman who’s got one and ask her instead.

Other people’s opinions won’t pay your bills or get you your dream life. Not unless those people are ones you’re following because their life is what you want.

Stand on your own two feet. Believe in yourself. Don’t let anyone sway you off course. You’re your own hero 🫶
