TENSION is about the mediation between exerting power over nature. There is a tension between the fast, disposable fashions, synthetic materials and organic fabrics like silks, cottons, linens which are more harmonious with the ecological environment.

Architectural theorist, Juhani Pallasmaa, borrowed words from Maurice Merleau-Ponty, when he wrote of the paintings of Paul Cézanne:

‘The task of architecture is to make visible “how the world touches us”'

Pallasmaa also argued that the result might be buildings that evoke “embodied and lived existential metaphors that concretize and structure our being in the world.”
