UGBOS Publication: Launching Barangay Bagongbong’s Official Community Newspaper

Sa pagpangabudlay nga mapabakod ang partisipasyon sang komunidad, mapasangkad ang kasanag kag hatagan klaro sang pamunoan, kag mapabugal ang mga nahimo sang pamatan-on kag lokal nga gobyerno, ang Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) sang Barangay Bagongbong mapisan nga nagapahibalo sang pagpatuman sang UGBOS PUBLICATION--ang opisyal nga community newspaper sang barangay.

Nagaluyag ini nga proyekto nga mapatubo kag mabuhi ang isa ka komunidad nga may nahibalo kag may gahum pinaagi sa paghatag sang husto, napapanahon, kag may kaangtanan nga mga impormasyon halin mismo sa pinaka-ubos nga lebel sang komunidad.

This initiative is the first of its kind in Barangay Bagongbong, envisioned and spearheaded by the current SK Council. It will serve as a platform to showcase news, events, programs, youth initiatives, ordinances, and developmental updates in and around the barangay. From public service announcements and SK project highlights to health campaigns and community achievements, UGBOS PUBLICATION ensures that no milestone goes unnoticed.

SK Chairperson Jhapet L. Agarado expressed excitement over the project, stating, “Ang UGBOS indi lang isa ka ordinaryo nga newsletter--isa ini ka simbolo sang amon katutom sa pagpasangkad sang tingog sang pamatan-on kag sa pagpasiguro nga ang aton mga pumuluyo may husto nga nahibalo. Ginahandom namon nga paagi sini, mas mapabakod pa naton ang pagbinuligay kag paghiusa sang kada miyembro sang barangay.”

The paper will be issued every two weeks of the month, both in print and digital format, and will be made accessible to all residents, ensuring that information reaches every home, especially those without access to social media. It will also include a youth corner, opinion pieces from KK members, and feature articles on local talents and youth leaders.

As the community embarks on this new journey of local journalism, the SK Council invites every resident ,young and old,to support, contribute to, and be part of the continuous growth of Barangay Bagongbong. Indeed, with UGBOS, information will not just sprout-it will flourish.

IN PHOTOS| AWARENESS SYMPOSIUM

As part of our commitment to youth education and well-being, Barangay Bagongbong SK Council successfully conducted an HIV/AIDS and Mental Health Awareness Symposium for the members of the Katipunan ng Kabataan. 🧠🎗️

To begin with, Mr. Julius Ervin Tuballes, Nurse III, discussed the critical topic of HIV/AIDS Awareness. He emphasized the importance of proper education, early detection, and eliminating the stigma that still surrounds the condition. His presentation provided the youth with essential knowledge to protect themselves and others.

Following that, Mr. Mervin Encanto, Juris Doctor, led a meaningful session on Mental Health Awareness. He spoke about how to cope up with mental health challenges, the value of self-care, and when and how to eradicate stressors. His talk helped shed light on the often-overlooked emotional struggles faced by today’s youth.

Moreover, we were honored by the presence of SB Pia June Pama, who delivered an empowering message to our KK members. She encouraged active youth participation and emphasized the role of awareness in building a safer and more inclusive community.

To conclude the event, tokens of appreciation were awarded to our distinguished speakers. This was done by the SK Council, headed by SK Chairperson Jhapet L. Agarado, together with Kagawad Orland Mejico, who represented Punong Barangay Sergio L. Lanaria.

Indeed, this event marks another step forward in creating a knowledgeable, healthy, and empowered generation in Barangay Bagongbong.

AWARENESS SYMPOSIUM 2025

The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Bagongbong, Dueñas, Iloilo successfully conducted a Mental Health and HIV/AIDS Awareness Symposium as part of our commitment to empowering and educating the youth on important health and social issues.

Through informative talks and open discussions, participants gained valuable insights on mental well-being, how to manage stress and anxiety, and the importance of seeking help. The session on HIV/AIDS Awareness helped raise understanding about prevention, stigma, and the importance of safe and informed choices.

However, due to an unexpected important visit and official duties, our guest speakers for Drug Awareness and Cyberbullying Prevention were unable to attend. We sincerely apologize for their absence and assure everyone that a follow-up session will be scheduled soon to cover these critical topics.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Mervin Encanto, Juris Doctor, our inspiring Mental Health speaker; Mr. Julius Ervin Tuballes, Nurse III, for sharing his expertise on HIV/AIDS awareness; Hon. Pia June Pama for her meaningful message; and Pia May Pama for gracing us with her presence during the event.

We would also like to thank all the KK members and youth participants for actively engaging during the symposium. Your willingness to learn and grow is what inspires us to continue these initiatives.

1ST SEMESTER KATIPUNAN NG KABATAAN (KK) ASSEMBLY

The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Bagongbong successfully conducted its 1st Semester Katipunan ng Kabataan (KK) Assembly held at the Barangay Bagongbong Sports Center.

The assembly served as a platform to present the accomplishments and ongoing projects of the SK Council, gather insights from the youth, and strengthen our commitment to transparency, accountability, and youth participation in local governance.

Various topics were also discussed, including the important benefits of KK IDENTIFICATION CARD to members of the Katipunan ng Kabataan, such as serving as proof of membership, providing access to SK programs, scholarships, and activities, and helping streamline verification during distributions and official youth events. On the other hand, not having a KK ID may result in limited access to SK services, disqualification from youth assistance programs, and difficulty in participating in assemblies or activities that require valid identification. Having your KK ID ensures you're officially recognized and included in opportunities meant for the youth of Barangay Bagongbong.

We thank all the KK members who actively participated and shared their voices during the assembly. Your presence and engagement drive us to continue delivering programs that are truly for the youth and community.

DISTRIBUTION OF EDUCATIONAL CASH ASSISTANCE TO ALL ELIGIBLE KK MEMBERS

In our continued commitment to invest in the future of our youth, the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Bagongbong, Dueñas, Iloilo proudly held the distribution of Educational Cash Assistance to all qualified members of the Katipunan ng Kabataan (KK) on June 29, 2025, at the Barangay Bagongbong Sports Center.

This initiative aims to ease the financial burden of education among our young constituents, especially as they prepare for School Year 2025–2026. By providing this assistance, we hope to inspire our youth to remain committed to their academic goals and continue striving for a brighter future.

The event was made possible through the efforts of the SK Council, with beneficiaries required to submit their documentary requirements and sign an assurance letter confirming their enrollment for the upcoming school year. We are truly grateful for the cooperation and discipline shown by our KK members throughout the process. Your enthusiasm and dedication to your education fuel our drive to serve you better.

The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Bagongbong would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Municipal Budget Officer Ma'am Rochelle L. Alentajan and the Local Youth Development Program (LYDP) Team of Dueñas, headed by Ma'am Jennifer E. Tolosa, for their unwavering support and assistance in making this program a reality.

LAUNCHING SOON!

The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Bagongbong is pleased to announce the official issuance of Katipunan ng Kabataan (KK) Identification Cards to all registered youth members of the barangay. This initiative aims to strengthen youth participation, ensure proper identification, and promote active involvement in all SK programs and activities. The KK ID will serve as an official proof of membership in Brgy, Bagongbong Katipunan ng Kabataan and may be used to access various SK services, such as educational assistance, free printing services, free jersey, acesss to all sporting equipment, and other youth development initiatives.

By providing these identification cards, we hope to foster a stronger sense of belonging and recognition among the youth of Barangay Bagongbong. We encourage all eligible individuals aged 15 to 30 years old to register and claim their KK ID at the SK Office during the designated schedule. The Sangguniang Kabataan remains committed to supporting and empowering the youth as valuable partners in building a progressive and inclusive community.

This identification card is NOT a government-issued ID and is intended solely for members of Brgy. Bagongbong Katipunan ng Kabataan (BBKK)

BBSK COMPUTER LITERACY PROGRAM

The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Bagongbong proudly announces the launch of the SK Computer Literacy Program, a youth development initiative designed to equip our young constituents with essential digital skills. In today’s fast-paced and technology-driven world, computer literacy is no longer a luxury but a necessity. This program aims to provide basic to intermediate knowledge in computer use, including typing, word processing, internet navigation, email use, and other relevant digital competencies that are vital for both education and employment.

Through this program, we hope to bridge the digital divide and ensure that the youth of Barangay Bagongbong are better prepared to face the demands of modern learning and the workforce. The sessions will be conducted by trained facilitators and are open to all interested members of the Katipunan ng Kabataan. The Sangguniang Kabataan remains committed to empowering the youth through education, innovation, and inclusive opportunities for personal and professional growth.
