The ex-Robben island veterans association was founded in Cape Town in 1995 by the late SA president, Nelson Mandela. It was launched at Robben Island by all former political prisoners. The main aims and objectives was to address the socio-economic problems affecting ex-political prisoners after their release from apartheid prisons in SA. The overall objective program me was to protect the heritage

and the legacy of political prisoners in politics and arts through museums in SA. The association consist of different ideological back round from different liberation movements. It is also a non-profit organization with a database of more that 5000 members both males and females. It has a democratic constitution with provincial struc tures in place. The EPPA as it is known, has a business vehicle called Makana investment corporation, The EPPA has a 51% shareholding stake in the Makana Trust.. The EPPA legacy projects include the Anti-Racism campaigns, Anti-xenophobia. Support the Palestinian Struggle against Zionism and Anti- Colonialism struggles around the globe.
