We’re thrilled to be launching Cinema of the Year supported by , a brand new BIFA award voted for by cinemagoers. 🏆 🎬

🎥 We want to celebrate the special cinemas around the country that bring audiences together and champion independent film.

🗳️ We’re now open for cinemas to enter, with public voting open 22 August.

🏆 The winner will be crowned at the BIFA ceremony on Sunday 30 November.

BIFA and joined forces once again to bring the 2025 Artios Awards to life, celebrating the best and brightest in the world of casting.

Host Susan Wokoma was joined by BIFA’s 2024 Breakthrough Performers to announce each category, with winners including David Grindrod, Juliette Meanger and Nina Gold.

We’re excited to announce that BIFA Springboard: Genre is now open for applications.

The programme is in partnership with Anton, the global production, finance and sales company boasting a roster of independent hits including The End We Start From and Femme.

Established in 2020, BIFA Springboard is a support programme for UK based filmmakers currently working on their second feature film.

Running from April to December 2025, BIFA Springboard: Genre will offer a mixture of technical and professional training, mentoring, networking and access to resources to better equip participants for industry challenges faced whilst developing their action, thriller, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, dystopia, rom-com or genre hybrid project.

In an industry where only 10% of producers and 20% of writers go on to make a sophomore feature, Springboard’s goal is to support the next wave of British filmmakers to be ambitious, thinking towards long term, visionary careers with global impacts.
