My friendship, a short story on honor and receiving
The man in the pictures is Pastor Osasumwen Eghianruwa the House 0f Shamba
One day like that, sometime around 2015, Rev David Ogbueli was to visit okigwe, we were in Absu then, zealous and burning with love for the work of God, we still are by God’s grace.
Then something spectacular happened,
While we were getting ready in the room, he said to me "guy I must shake Pst Ogbueli's hand today".. making gestures with his hands in preparation for a handshake of life😄
he made this statement over and over till it became funny to me
I laughed, how was that possible, we would be sitting in the pews while "Mpa" would be ministering from the far pulpit in a crowd of over 3000.
Even if he was going to lay hands, chances are that he wouldn't lay hands on every one, and laying hands won't be handshake too...
So the chances were slim I thought.
Fast forward, we got to the auditorium quite on time, our shoes neatly polished and our shirts well straightened out, then we made our way to the front seat rows... We wanted to get as close as possible to the preacher.. no taking chances.
Then my friend had a need to step outside, I can't remember exactly why he walked out only to come back and meet someone occupying his seat; the rule was, if you got up from your seat, it ceased to be yours and you had no right whatsoever to ask the current occupant to vacate.
I was disturbed, I was busy looking for opportunities to make his prophetic wish come through.. so I looked at him from my seat with that "eiyaa" feeling; he had already found a seat at the fourth or fifth row.. he wasn't happy either.
Then came the golden opportunity, someone on the front row got up for "God knows why"😄 and I quickly waved at my friend who appeared to be waiting for the opportunity already.. he hurried to the front row as I tried to extend my hands of security over the seat🤣
Then he finally sat in the front again. We were now relaxed
Fast forward,
Mpa had started preaching and we were getting blessed... If you've sat under Revd. Ogbueli, you'd know he doesn't have daddy Adeboye's "standing still" anointing 😄
He always walked around, making gestures with his hands and making strong eye contacts with his audience at intervals...
So?
So he walked towards our stand, said something (I can't remember exactly what as it had nothing to do with his subsequent action) and then smiled, stretched forth his hands and shook my friend, then passed and continued his teaching. No remarks or reasons why he did the handshake 🙄
I was wowed, my friend preserved his hand like an oil well, I didn't know he'd ever use the hand for eba and soup again or maybe banga and starch 🤣
✓That single act changed my perspective about receiving from men of God, ever since then, I wouldn't attend any Christian meeting without first of all praying and preparing myself to receive and to be a blessing. To every other person in that auditorium, it was another of Mpa's interaction skills, to the receiver, an impartation had occured.. funnily, there was no laying of hands by the man of God in that meeting. I didn't even see his car to touch😄
✓I routed for my friend, saw an opportunity and didn't cease to prepare him for what he was already prepared for,😏
He had returned this kind of attitude to me in one program we attended together many years later at Uyo, this time he inspired me to become expectant at dying minute and I was and I did receive massively. That story will be for some other time..
✓ Keep friends who will teach you, correct you and assist you in life's journey
We might not be all made now, but we're not confused, we have sat under and received from men. We are preparing, we keep preparing unashamed
