Magpapatupad ang Philippine Ports Authority ng queuing system sa Batangas Port para pigilan ang mga fixer na naniningil ng hanggang P2,000 sa “express entry.” Ayon kay Jay Daniel Santiago, lalagyan ng numero ang bawat sasakyan para maayos ang pila at bantayan ang awtorisadong pagpasok. Pinayuhan din ang port police at security laban sa pakikipagsabwatan. Kasabay nito, dumagsa ang mga pasahero ngayong Pasko at hinarap ang mahabang pila at limitadong biyahe.

It’s not about whether the amount can stretch far enough; Filipinos are famously resourceful and can make even limited resources work.

The real issue lies in the message and the messenger. Trade Secretary Maria Cristina Aldeguer-Roque, by publicly promoting a P500 Christmas dinner as sufficient, sent a tone-deaf signal that the struggle of ordinary families is somehow acceptable or “enough.”

Police arrested one of three suspects in the killing of a vendor and his six year old daughter in Nasugbu. The suspect, identified as Mark, 23, was caught on December 10. The victims were attacked by armed men on a motorcycle, killing the father at the scene and the child at the hospital. Mark was identified by the injured 17 year old son. He is now in police custody while a manhunt continues for the other suspects.

Project Build Up will support 100 PWDs in Malvar through skills training, mentoring, and livelihood aid. The program, led by Japan To***co International with ASSIST and the local government, will train participants in business planning, product development, finance, and marketing. Selected groups will receive cash grants after a final pitch. Local officials said the project gives PWDs long term skills and new opportunities for income. Activities run from December 2025 to June 2026 and include screening, workshops, mentoring, and a PWD Enterprise Day.

A father was killed and two of his children, ages 17 and 6, were injured when an armed man opened fire on their tricycle in Barangay Butucan, Nasugbu. A 7-year-old child survived unharmed. The attacker, armed with an armalite and a .45 pistol, blocked their path and shot them before fleeing. Police are investigating the motive and identifying the suspect.
