Anyone who thinks that beef eating is not prohibited in Hinduism and that a person can eat beef and still be a Hindu should read this:
Cow killing is the biggest sin and eating cow flesh is totally prohibited in Hinduism. In Hindu nations, cow killers and eaters should be punished. Here are some verses from the Hindu scriptures on cow killing and eating:
One who partakes of human flesh, the flesh of a horse or of another animal and deprives others from milk by slaughtering cows ; if such a fiend does not desist then even cut off their heads by your powers Oh king. - Rig Veda X.87.16
Destroy those who kill cows - Yajurveda 30.18
Do not kill cows and bulls who always deserve to be protected. (Yajurveda 13.49)
It is definitely a great sin to kill innocents. Do not kill our cows, horses and people. - Atharvaveda 10.1.29
Surely, one who kills a cow or a bull commits the most heinous crime. Mahabharata, Shantiparva 262.47
A guru, a teacher, a father, a mother, a brahmana, a cow and a yogi all should never be killed. ~ Manu-samhita, chapter 4, verse 162
Cow killers and cow eaters are condemned to rot in hell for as many thousands of years as there are for each hair on the body of every cow they eat from. ~ Sri Caitanya Caritamrita adi lila, chapter 17 verse 166
If any of your friends think that beef is not prohibited in Hinduism then show them these verses from the Hindu scriptures.
A person cannot eat beef and be a Hindu no matter what their varna is. When India was completely Vedic, a person would be ki**ed if they even tried to kill a cow. The cow is considered a mother in Hinduism and the killing of mother is the biggest sin.
