The Folkestone-Hythe Operatic and Drama Society (FHODS) are thrilled to present the family favourite and classic musical - Annie this summer at The Tower Theatre in Folkestone.

Based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

The beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written, including "Tomorrow".

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage that is run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan.

With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous world of NYC. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations... and even befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt!

She finds a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

Come and join FHODS for this classic musical that will leave you feeling emotionally touched, uplifted, joyful and humming along with all the tunes!

Performances take place from 27th June - 5th July

On June 28th Old Skool Producer / DJ’s 2 Bad Mice return to the Kent Coast (remember those awesome sets at Kings Hall, Herne Bay in the 90’s?) and invite their mates Ellis Dee, Freestylers + The Criminal Minds to recreate the sounds of those heady nights and early mornings in this great venue.

The event is taking place at The Lido in Margate, which cemented its place in UK dance music history by becoming the go to venue in Kent during the early days of the Rave Scene.

Margate fave Sabrina also brings the vibes on the night, to complete the line up. Expect a night of “All Things Rave” - from acid house to hardcore to jungle, breaks and more - it is not to be missed.

Early Bird and General release tickets are 90’s prices via Skiddle.

💥NEW EXHIBITION AT THE TURNER: ANNA BOGHIGUIAN - THE SUNKEN BOAT💥

Don’t miss The Sunken Boat, a powerful and timely new exhibition by Egyptian-Canadian artist Anna Boghiguian, on now at the until 26 October.
Known for her bold, immersive installations, Boghiguian weaves personal narrative with global histories using painting, sculpture, collage, and sound. The Margate School invite you to join them for a retrospective exhibition of Alan Gouk.

The exhibition opened on Sunday 9th June, runs until 27th June, and there will be a private view on Saturday 14th June from 2pm.

Belfast-born Alan Gouk (1939–2024) was a pivotal figure in British abstract painting and sculpture. Initially trained in architecture and philosophy, he emerged as a major voice in the 1960s art scene, winning the John Moores Painting Prize twice.

As a teacher at St Martin’s, he championed rigorous, sometimes controversial approaches to sculpture. A key contributor to the artist-led Stockwell Depot and an outspoken critic, Gouk’s work is held in major collections including Tate and the Arts Council. Until his passing, he remained deeply engaged in arts education and debate, leaving a lasting legacy in modern British art.
