I went on a tallow soap-making frenzy on Saturday! I made a chocolate soap loaf with cocoa powder, and a lovely floral soap loaf scented with geranium and magnolia oils. I also made facial soap bars with activated charcoal. I’m super excited to try them out! My husband likes the scent of both soaps, but especially the chocolate.

So after many (many!) questions and requests about when I’m going to start selling my bar soaps, here’s the update!

Most of you know that I thought designing labels would be my favorite part of this business, but it turns out it’s definitely not. I try to create the perfect, pretty label, then get overwhelmed by all the templates and design decisions. And honestly, does it really matter how fancy the label is? Do I really want to raise my product prices just to cover the cost of fancy labels that get torn off anyway? Lol.

As much as I love cute, fun designs, I’ve decided, especially with so many people asking for soaps, to keep it nice and simple. Simple is beautiful too and way less stressful.

Also, just a heads up, this first batch of soaps will be priced a bit lower than usual. Why? Because I cannot cut a straight line to save my life. I tried, lol. Most of them are kind of funky cuts, but I’ve got a soap cutter now, so everything from here on out will be perfectly sliced and priced accordingly. So don’t miss out on giving these a try!

With that being said, I’ll be dropping off the first batch of soaps this week to the stores I’m currently in. I’ll post a follow-up soon with the when and where. Stay tuned!!

Rendering some tallow tonight for whipped tallow, as well as some cooking tallow requested by one of my favorite customers! Cooking tallow doesn’t require as many renders as tallow for skincare, but I still like to render it enough to remove impurities and ensure it’s clean and pure. For now, I’m offering cooking tallow by request, but if it becomes popular, I may add it to my website. I truly appreciate all the support!

Who else loves waking up early? I actually struggle every morning to get up at 5 a.m. However, when my husband has to get up, I have no problem getting out of bed to make his coffee and prepare his lunch. Then, I find myself cleaning, washing dishes, preparing breakfast, and prepping for dinner—and getting it all done before 8 a.m. Now, if only I could continue doing this every morning. Apple sausage for the win from our local butcher for dinner! 👌
