This episode, Jerry's first entry in this year's Shocktober! is Tobe Hooper's Lifeforce (1985), an incredibly bizarre sci-fi/horror film. What starts off innocently enough with a starship full of mynocks and naked people in crystals derails into a crazy story about energy vampires, a naked woman, telepathy, body jumping and Steve Railsback straddling Patrick Stewart. It's a hell of a ride that doesn't make a lot of sense, but manages to be fascinating nonetheless. #1985

This episode, Doug and Jerry wrap up September a few days late with Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb!, the Stanley Kubrick masterpiece from 1964. A pitch-black comedy about the end of the world through mutually assured nuclear annihilation. Comedies about the end-of-the-world are tough to make work, as evidenced by most of the end-of-the-world comedies, but this one not only works, it soars....

This week, Jerry and Doug take a break from good movies that make sense and bad movies that don't to talk about 3 good movies...that do not make any sense whatsoever (and it's not Monty Python again). It's the first three Bond films: Dr. No, From Russia with Love and Goldfinger! These movies are just plain fun, despite some truly awful puns and quips as well as brutal murders, racism, and misogyny....

This episode, Jerry and Doug step back 100 years to 1921 and Charlie Chaplin's first feature: The Kid! This brief but lovable movie has remained funny and touching for a century, and for good reason. Watch your window panes and don't let The Little Tramp behind you, he will kick you.

This episode, Doug and Jerry talk about the rift between two of the greatest westerns of all time: High Noon and Rio Bravo. John Wayne and Howard Hawks hated High Noon, so they remade it the way they thought it should be and fans of one seldom enjoy the other very much. It's the Beatles/Stones, Keaton/Chaplin, Jackson/Prince fan rivalry of movie western!

This episode, Jerry and Doug take a look at a hidden gem from the early '80s: Barbarossa, a western starring Willie Nelson and Gary Busey (both giving fine performances). Jerry found this one after vaguely remembering seeing it before. It's an odd little picture, but a good one nonetheless.
