Dominic Foos! The champion of the SJM Macao Open 2025! / Asian Tour

Dominic Foos clinched victory at the SJM Macao Open today (19Oct2025), becoming the first German golfer to win on the Asian Tour since the legendary Bernhard Langer 29 years ago.

Foos triumphed over Taiwan's Wang Wei-hsuan on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff at the renowned par-five 18th hole at Macau Golf & Country Club. He secured the win with a 10-foot birdie putt after Wang missed his attempt for par, marking the sixth playoff in the event's history.

Both players ended the tournament tied at 17 under par. Foos, who started the day six shots behind overnight leader Sarit Suwannarut of Thailand, fired a seven-under-par 63, while Wang finished with a 62.

At 28 years old, Foos played from the fourth-to-last group and remained bogey-free, recording seven birdies, including crucial ones on the final two holes of regulation play.

“I have to admit, I didn’t really check the leaderboard all day,” Foos said. “I just focused on playing shot by shot. But as I approached the 18th, I had to glance at the score and realized I needed to make a birdie. I was just past the green and knew what I had to do, and I’m glad I managed to pull it off.”

Having spent much of his career on Europe’s Challenge Tour, where he won an event a decade ago, Foos now enjoys a two-year exemption to compete on the Asian Tour.

“I’ve always been a hard worker; that’s never been the issue. But with the support of my family, especially my dad, and some close friends, I really appreciate those who have stuck by me,” he added. “A special thanks goes to Mr. Kramski, who has been there for me during tough times on the golf course. Experiences like this reveal who truly supports you, and I’m grateful for all those who have been there.”

In the playoff, both players birdied the first hole after reaching the green in two. On the second attempt, Foos found himself in a tough spot when his second shot landed in a greenside bunker, while Wang was just off the back of the green. Foos thrilled the crowd by nearly holing his bunker shot, leaving him with a 10-footer for birdie. Wang, however, struggled with his chip, leaving him 20 feet away. After Wang missed his putt for par, Foos stepped up to make the winning putt.
