It wouldn't be a series finale episode if we didn't go out with a bang! Joined by the creators of Blood of Zeus, Charley and Vlas Parlapanides, as well as the voice actors for the series' leads of Heron (Derek Phillips) and Seraphim (Elias Toufexis), we delve into the creative process of producing one of our favorite modern retellings of Greek myth. Though our heroic brothers may be at odds in the show, the camaraderie of the writers and performers is evident as we discuss the importance of storytelling in our modern era.

It wouldn't be a Blood of Zeus episode if we didn't bring back the reigning champ and monster 'enthusiast' Zoé Thomas ()! We break down our reactions to the third and final season of Netflix's animated myth-fest, Blood of Zeus, created by Charley and Vlas Parlapanides. Highs, lows and Bacchic hallucinations, we've got a lot to say about this one, so grab your lightning bolts, hop on your flying chariot and join the sparagmos.

We continue our suite of host-picks that have nothing to do with the central premise of our show with Colin's random movie pick: Dean Parisot's 1999 addition to the Star Trek canon: Galaxy Quest. This time, we're the Thermians taking a piece of media at face value with no appreciation for context, irony or the dramatic arts. Or are we Saris? Either way, listen as we find a way to turn this late 20th century satirical sci-fi action into a reflection of anthropology and the transmission of culture, as well as meditate on the state of nerd culture, fictional space aliens and the fear of being a cringy millenial.

Did the Predator aliens invent toxic masculinity? Are billionaire's secretly chill dudes? Would this be Freud's all-time favorite movie? Yes.

We take a (slight) detour from our usual survey grounds to talk about our first personal pick (thank you, Elijah): Alien vs. Predator (2004), aka The Predator Industrial Complex. Join us for a review of this classic tale of human explorers finding themselves caught in a centuries-long struggle betwixt newly born larvae and a teen coming-of-age party. It's got archaeology, some form feminism(?), and whole heaps of blood. 2004 called and said, "this movie's E###TREME!"

That's right! We packed our bags with recording equipment and made our way to the annual meeting of the Classical Association of the Midwest and South to talk about the 2024 Netflix show, KAOS. Filling in for Colin as co-host is fan favorite Amy Pistone, and our special guest for this episode is our first ever live audience! While we might be at an academic conference, we can't help but do things the Movies We Dig way by drinking wine and dropping f-bombs throughout our analysis of KAOS. Listen now at movieswedig.com or wherever you get your podcasts!

To learn more about Amy and her work, be sure visit her website amypistone.com. Special thanks to the Classical Assn of the Middle West and South for taking a chance on our unorthodox roundtable. What a great place to hold a discussion like this! And an extra-special shoutout to Sami Cronin for helping out with all the behind-scenes work to make this live show a reality!

Join us as we uncover the tomb of unspeakable (unwatchable?) horrors that is the 2014 found-footage horror film, The Pyramid. Joined by super special guest and Egyptologist extraordinaire Briana Jackson (), we attempt to make sense of this confusing three-sided pyramid. We talk cannibal cats, abused camera men and why Anubis is actually a good boy who did nothing wrong. Listen now at https://shows.acast.com/movies-we-dig/episodes/the-pyramid-2014-with-briana-jackson.

Man’s reach should forever exceed his podcast. Join us as we talk with super special guest, Flint Dibble, about James Gray’s 2016 biopic on early 20th century British explorer Percy Fawcett, The Lost City of Z. We talk archaeology, colonialism and why this is a stealth prequel to the Twilight Saga. Is this a hagiography of an archaeological pioneer or a troubling attempt to smooth other a complicated legacy? Also, it’s pronounced ‘Zed.’ Listen now at movieswedig.com or wherever you get your .

Much like our adventurers Joan Wilder and Jack Colton, gets a little waylaid in her summarization of the plot for Romancing the Stone. There may not be a whole lot of archaeology going on, but it's a good time all around! Listen now at movieswedig.com or wherever you like to get your podcasts.

Happy Valentine’s Day listeners! To celebrate, grab your favorite smutty romance book and your map of questionable origins as we explore the chaotically-fun film, Romancing the Stone. Joining the conversation is the wonderful Raven Todd DaSilva (Dig it with Raven), who helps us to uncover the film’s questionable romance and even more questionable archaeology. We uncover the tragic history of the film’s screenwriter, it’s intriguing relationship with the Indiana Jones franchise, and how archaeology and travel may lead to self-actualization(?). If nothing else, just know that Kathleen Turner walked in ruined pumps so that Sandra Bullock could run in a sparkly-pink jumpsuit.
