Exciting news!
We launched Sand Badger on the crowdfunding site, Kickstarter!
Sand Badger is the newest, fastest, best beach umbrella anchor ever created. Developing Sand Badger took a lot of time and was, truly, a labor of love.
My kids and I were going to the beach a lot and putting up an umbrella was not usually a pleasant experience. That’s when we went to work creating the Sand Badger. We spent a lot of time developing the Sand Badger. We perfected it through lots of testing, perfecting each iteration, ending with our final design.
The process to develop Sand Badger was both a lot of work and a lot of fun, after all we were at the beach! During the process we also received a lot of positive comments from other beach goers who were frustrated by sand screws and other devices. Some of the ones that stick are, “this is a game changer”, “wow, where can I get one of these”, “I love this”. The comments/compliments were numerous and reinforced that we had something that would help everyone.
One of the best comments came from a young marine corps engineer who came up and said that this device is perfect. He said that it mimics (on a smaller scale) how they install boat docks and sea walls because it utilizes the water jet model of delivering large poles into the sand. He went on and talked about the technological aspects of water drilling, sand compaction and hydrostatic pressure, which was very interesting and also emphasized the Sand Badger’s differentiation. That night I was tucking my son into bed, he looked up at me and said “daddy, you’re a genius”. Made my heart melt and the best thing about the process.
We also applied to the United Stated Patent Office to obtain patents for the Sand Badger. This is where we received another sign that Sand Badger is truly unique. Our patent attorney indicated that the patent office approved the preliminary application on the first attempt, which rarely happens and is suggestive of how exceptional the Sand Badger is. We ended up with two approved patents for Sand Badger.
My kids and I also love sea creatures and have decided to donate a portion of sales to various sea turtle rescue organizations. We will be rotating the donations to different organizations annually.
I am asking for support from those who go to the beach and are one step away from bringing Sand Badger to the market. We need crowdfunding to help us build the injection molds. Once built, the Sand Badger will be manufactured here, in Florida.
