â¨Long overdue, but hi đđź Iâm Betzy!
If youâve been following me for a while, you know I donât often share my face here. Thatâs partly because I love scheduling one-on-one calls with anyone interested in working with me â it gives me the chance to really connect with you before we even set a date to shoot. But I figured itâs also nice to know whoâs behind the lens. So here I am â and of course I had to include a photo of my baby, Choco-latte (aka my child). If weâve ever worked together or hopped on a call, chances are youâve already heard me mention him! đ¤
Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started out in high school with analog photography, but when I went to college, I majored in psychology and followed the pre-med track, thinking Iâd end up in medical or dental school. Life, of course, had other plans. After some time in the corporate world, I realized what had always been true: photography wasnât just a side passion â it was the thing I loved most.
Being born in Oaxaca, Mexico and growing up in New York City, Iâve always carried two homes in my heart. NYC especially has shaped me â its stories, its people, its rhythm. My camera has taken me everywhere: from documenting couples in love, to capturing the rush of a concert crowd, to helping someone see themselves in a way they hadnât before. No two stories are ever the same, and thatâs exactly what keeps me inspired.
What I love most about photography is that itâs never just about the photos â itâs about connection. Iâll 100% be your hype woman behind the camera, but Iâll also be someone who listens, who notices, who helps you feel fully yourself in front of the lens. For me, this work is less about taking pictures and more about creating moments youâll want to relive.
This past year has been transformative, and Iâm so grateful for everyone whoâs supported, shared my work, or trusted me to capture their story. Down the road, Iâd love to explore more ways of sharing photography â maybe through photo walks or even teaching â but for now, Iâm just thankful to be here, creating and connecting with so many incredible people.
