Naval Mayor Gretchen Stephanie Espina took to her social media account this morning to issue a strong statement addressing what she termed as "malicious political propaganda and harassment" being leveled against her. While expressing an initial reluctance to engage with the controversies, the Mayor stated her obligation to provide the truth to the people she serves.
Mayor Espina directly addressed the ongoing "issues" and "accusations," confirming she has "read the comments" and "know[s] the malicious people behind this political propaganda and harassment."
Acknowledging the difficulty of being judged by falsehoodsโstating "bisag lisod at niyuyurakan ang pagkatao mo" (even if it's hard and your character is trampled)โshe emphasized that true leadership requires firmness, especially when one's conscience is clear. She asserted that her actions as Mayor have always been "guided by dedication, accountability, at TOTOO at genuine nga serbisyo para sa katawhan."
In a clear message to her critics, the Mayor declared she has "nothing to hide," choosing instead to let her track record speak for itself. She confidently stated, "My record, my actions, and my service to the people of Naval will always speak LOUDER than any false story."
Mayor Espina maintained a composed stance against the attacks, choosing to "face this with calm, with dignity, with grace, and with faith that truth will always win in the end." This declaration sets the tone for her administration's approach to what she sees as political distraction.
Crucially, the Mayor vowed not to be swayed by the current political climate or "unfounded claims." She reaffirmed her primary commitment: to "remain focused on my duty... to serve the people, strengthen our Dasig programs, and continue building a government that Navaleรฑos can trust and be proud of."
She stressed her dedication to a non-partisan government, one that serves everyone regardless of political affiliation: "Gobyernong walang pili... walang kulay (A government without favorites... without color)." This signals her intent to maintain integrity and inclusivity in her service to the municipality.
Concluding her statement, Mayor Espina expressed deep gratitude to all her supporters, acknowledging that their trust inspires her to "keep serving with integrity and courage bisag sobra na ang ilang guipangbuhat kanako (even if what they have done to me is too much)." She ended with a hopeful and unifying message: "Padayon ta. We move forward for a stronger, united, and resilient Naval."
