Gabriel Oliveira, also known as gabephase, is a DJ, Music Producer, and Cultural Producer, born in Maceió (AL), but currently residing in Recife (PE), Brasil.
His research explores diverse sounds where bass and percussion are very present, allowing the artist to navigate between experimental subgenres, while also honoring classic electronic music genres within his sets.

He also works as a producer and curator, being the founder of PILHADA, a label that aims to promote underground electronic music made by Black and Latin folk, but specifically sounds that were born in the favelas of northeast in Brasil.

In 2023 he released his first edit/remix, “B*ceta Grátis X Stargaze”, on Soundcloud, and in 2024 he collaborated with murimetal on the remix of the track “Tira a Mão do C*”, by Katy da Voz e as Abusadas, a track present on the group’s official remix album and available on all streaming platforms. Continuing with musical productions, he stood out for his collaboration with producer Brunoso on the track “TE ENGOLE,” which has received national and international recognition. AROUND THE WORLD : BRAZIL JAN 2026

Brazil’s underground electronic scene is driven by intensity, rhythm, and resistance. Shaped by decades of sound-system culture, DIY parties, and nightlife born outside of institutions, Brazilian club music has always absorbed its surroundings. Techno and house collide with baile funk, percussive rhythms, breaks, and experimental electronics, creating a sound that feels physical and emotional rather than polished or restrained. Across cities like São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, and Recife, the focus is less on spectacle and more on collective release.

Q***r communities have long been central to this culture. In a country marked by deep social contradictions, underground dance floors have become vital spaces of freedom, protection, and expression for LGBTQIA+ people. Q***r-led parties and informal collectives transform nightlife into something more than entertainment: places where identity, politics, and pleasure coexist. The music often reflects that urgency, moving between hard techno, distorted funk, sensual house, and raw club tools that mirror both struggle and joy.

In recent years, women, trans, and non-binary artists have taken an even stronger role in shaping Brazil’s electronic underground. These artists and organizers emphasize care, consent, and accessibility, redefining what a “safe space” can look like while pushing sound forward. Rather than chasing global trends, the scene remains grounded in local experience, prioritizing community over industry and emotion over perfection.

This month, we’re celebrating artists connected to that evolution, rooted in Brazil’s q***r underground and the sound of a community that continues to carve out space through rhythm, resistance, and dance.

With a sound as bold and unapologetic as her vision, Miss Kleio is a force. Her soundscapes are a masterclass in tension and release, weaving together driving, hypnotic polyrhythms and chest-pounding beats that command the dancefloor. Drawing from the raw energy of vintage rave culture and the gritty soul of Detroit techno, Miss Kleio’s signature Hypnotic hardgroove sound is a time machine to the underground’s golden era, yet firmly rooted in the now.

As a co-founder of TECHNOIR Collective, she is at the forefront of a movement to amplify q***r DJs of color and marginalized voices in electronic music.

In September 2024, Miss Kleio unveiled her latest project, BODYCLOCK, a weekly, q***r and bipoc-centric electronic sanctuary at Toronto’s legendary Piston Bar. More than just a dance party, BODYCLOCK is a community-driven celebration of electronic music’s unifying power and its black roots.

World disco, pulsing house, and body-moving rhythms: DJ Hannah serves up an electrifying blend of records designed to move hearts as much as feet. One of Calgary’s most versatile selectors, she’s known for weaving familiar classics and underground cuts into seamless, story-driven sets. Shaped by a Montreal upbringing and a lifelong obsession with musical deep-dives, DJ Hannah brings the soul of a crate-digger and the energy of a dancefloor alchemist to every performance.

Since her club debut in 2017, she’s become a mainstay in Canada’s electronic music scene, with a presence that stretches from club settings to major festival stages like Bass Coast and Shambhala. Whether she’s behind the decks at a party or on-air during her CJSW radio show, Neon Window, Hannah creates sonic experiences that are both intimate and expansive. Unafraid to take risks and a true antidote to the tech bro algorithm, DJ Hannah is carving out space for authenticity, groove, and a little bit of magic on every dancefloor she touches.

This mix marks our first official broadcast episode in an exciting new chapter, kicking off our collaboration with Gatekeeper Radio. OBSKUR Radio will now be featured every Friday of the month at 12PM PST / UTC-8. Here you can find the archive of each episode. We decided to kick off the first month with our homeland: Canada. We will be featuring an artist from each major city. Up first, we have DJ dood.

DJ dood is a Vancouver based DJ and promoter with a taste for high energy, groove driven sets. Moving fluidly between house, progressive house and techno, she blends cheeky vocals with rolling basslines, balancing a love for timeless dancefloor moments with a forward looking approach that keeps things unpredictable. She’s shared the bill with artists like Moxie, Prosumer, Cinthie, DJ Boring, and Brawther, and in recent years has launched two event series: dood’s dancefloor, spotlighting q***r and femme talent, and Full House alongside Max Ulis, showcasing both local and international acts.

Beyond the booth, she’s the Program Manager for Public Disco, helping turn city spaces into open air dancefloors. Her footprint across the Vancouver scene includes appearances at Bass Coast, Vantek, Industrial, Village Studios, Celebrities and The Birdhouse, along with her monthly Bside Radio show, Sup dood?

AROUND THE WORLD - CANADA SERIES
Gatekeeper Radio x OBSKUR MUSIC

We’re excited to officially launch the Canadian edition of our Around the World radio project in collaboration with Gatekeeper Radio. Since 2025, we’ve been focusing on spotlighting q***r, femme, and boundary-pushing artists from regions we haven’t reached yet. We have yet to feature our homeland and figured this would be the best way to kick off this collaboration.

Canada has a deep, quietly influential history in dance music: from the early warehouse and after-hours culture of Montréal and Toronto, to the experimental bass and club hybrids coming out of the West Coast, to the prairie DIY collectives keeping scenes alive against all odds. These cities have shaped global sounds while nurturing local voices who redefine what dance music can be.

For this month-long series, we’re featuring four artists from four major Canadian cities—people we’ve had the pleasure of watching grow into leaders and community shapers in their own scenes. Each episode will run in a radio-show format on Gatekeeper first, then be archived on our SoundCloud. We’ll also be pairing each mix with a short interview, giving space to share their stories, influences, and the realities of building culture where they live.

LINEUP
D.5 - Vancouver: DJ dood
D.12 - Calgary: DJ Hannah
D.19 - Montréal: Birthname
D.26 - Toronto: Miss Kleio

This series will look and feel a little different for Around the World with more narrative, more context, more community. We can’t wait to share the sounds and voices shaping Canadian dance music today. Link in bio to check out Gatekeeper now.

11/21/2025

DJ MĂ-TA is a Romanian DJ and producer whose entire project started as a joke, and then accidentally became one of the most recognisable sonic signatures in the new wave of Romanian electronic music. What began as playful provocation turned into a fully formed artistic identity built on bold blends, cultural commentary, and a refusal to fit into anyone’s expectations.

Her sound stitches together Balkan grooves, techno, trance, and manele, a genre many consider “controversial,” but she treats it as a core part of her artist identity. After nearly a decade in London, her style also carries the imprint of the UK’s chaotic, genre-fluid scene, making her mixes unpredictable in the best way. Jumping from manele to hard techno, to Balkan folk or drum & bass feels effortless in her hands.

Her mission is simple: connect Romania’s Balkan soundscape with the wider global club culture and tear down the elitism that often divides them. On stage, she delivers high-energy, tongue-in-cheek sets that challenge purists while keeping dancefloors fully engaged. Off stage, she uses her platform to push for a more progressive, inclusive cultural space, especially for women, minorities and q***r people.
Collaboration sits at the heart of her work. She frequently teams up with DJs, producers, and artists across different collectives, aiming to dissolve the rigid territoriality of the Romanian scene and encourage a more united community.

Now a familiar face in Romania’s circuit, DJ MĂ-TA has played major festivals including UNTOLD, Electric Castle, and Neversea, as well as shows in Moldova and France. She continues to expand her reach with a sound that’s provocative, unapologetic, and unmistakably her own.
PS: DJ MĂ-TA means “DJ YOUR MOM”.
