NEW Honda Prelude GT500

Honda is planning a GT500-class race car based on the new Prelude, to compete in Japan’s Super GT from the 2026 season. The Prelude GT500 will replace the Civic Type R-GT, which had underperformed. The GT500 model is expected to take advantage of the two-door Prelude’s aerodynamic possibilities, something Honda saw as a limitation with the Civic’s body design.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing announced today that, as part of the GR Heritage Parts Project, it intends to reproduce and reissue parts for the 4A-GE-type engine of the Corolla Levin and Sprinter Trueno (AE86)1.

• The cylinder head sub-assembly and the cylinder block sub-assembly for the 4A-GE engine are to be reproduced and reissued.
• The two parts are to be exhibited at the “Initial D 30th Anniversary 2days” event at Fuji Speedway on September 13 and 14, where preordering for them is to begin.

The GR Heritage Parts Project is an initiative to reproduce discontinued service parts and reissue them as new genuine parts to meet customers’ desires to keep on driving their beloved cars full of memories. Currently, more than 200 parts for a total of eight vehicle models are being reissued and resold under the project.

To join the GR Heritage Parts lineup this time are a cylinder head sub-assembly and a cylinder block sub-assembly for the aforementioned two AE86 vehicle models.

To help ensure continued joyful use of beloved cars in the best possible condition for years to come, these two GR Heritage Parts—while retaining their original basic design and specifications—have been modernized using the latest simulation technology, manufacturing methods, and materials.

Main features of the parts to be reproduced and reissued

■ Cylinder head sub-assembly
The cylinder head sub-assembly features combustion chambers with additional machining that lessens the untouched cast surface area, reducing differences among individual engines that arise from slight variances in compression ratios. The intake ports undergo a coating process to reduce pre-polishing surface irregularities. Cam cap knock pins, which were originally only partially used, have been added throughout for improved assembly workability.

■ Cylinder block sub-assembly
The cylinder block sub-assembly features cylinder bores that undergo a modern honing process to improve bore machining precision. Durability has been improved through the use of higher-rigidity cast iron and simulation-based modification of the crank-cap structure.

■ Responding to customer requests
Responding to customer requests received during various events, certain intake and exhaust ports of the cylinder head sub-assembly have been given thicker walls. The cylinder block sub-assembly also now includes bosses and ribs for transverse mounting, enabling its installation not only in the AE86 but also in front-wheel-drive vehicles.

The GR Heritage Parts announced today, along with an AE86 equipped with an engine assembled using these parts and that has been restored using currently sold GR Heritage Parts, are to be exhibited at the “Initial D 30th Anniversary 2days”, an event at Fuji Speedway (in Japans Shizuoka Prefecture) scheduled for the two days of Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14. Customers can preorder the two new GR Heritage Parts for the first time at the event’s GR Heritage Parts booth.

The McLaren Le Mans Hypercar was unveiled in a new livery for depositors and prospective buyers of the highly exclusive Project: Endurance customer car program during a private event at Monterey Car Week. Presented by McLaren Group Holdings CEO, Nick Collins and McLaren Racing CEO, Zak Brown, and hosted by Justin Bell, third place overall finisher at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans in the #51 McLaren F1 GTR, Project: Endurance showcased a new livery with a nod to the famed 1974 Indianapolis 500 winning McLaren M16.

First revealed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, the McLaren Hypercar will make its competitive debut in the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) as McLaren campaigns to again win the Triple Crown* of motorsport - this time in a single season.

The new livery takes its inspiration from the first of McLaren’s Triple Crown victories, when the M16, driven by Texan Johnny Rutherford, won the 1974 Indianapolis 500. The body colour is updated to McLaren Orange with a dark blue centre strip that is inspired by the colour of the Texas flag, and the roof of the cockpit is adorned with the lone white star of Texas as carried on the helmet design used by Rutherford – who was known as ‘Lone Star JR.’ The livery carries Lone Star JR’s race number 3 as well as McLaren’s Speedy Kiwi and Speedmark logos.

Project: Endurance offers the opportunity to own an authentic Le Mans Hypercar – a driving experience few will ever experience – and to be at the very heart of an elite motorsport development and testing program. This includes full behind-the-scenes access to the upcoming McLaren United AS WEC campaign, key team personnel and drivers as well as a comprehensive track driving program at world-famous race circuits.

“There is a huge level of excitement for Project: Endurance around the globe with customers and fans. The opportunity to be one of only a few to own this Le Mans Hypercar and be directly involved in the development and testing program is a very special proposition. We’re looking forward to showcasing Project: Endurance, with a livery tied specifically to our motorsports heritage in the US, to Americas customers and prospects throughout August.”
Nick Collins, CEO, McLaren Group Holdings

Inclusive to the Project: Endurance ownership experience, customers will enjoy a two-year McLaren customer track program that includes some of the world’s best race circuits. Each owner will receive driver coaching from a race professional, with individual pit crew and race engineers supporting throughout, allowing them a pathway to master their hypercar and push their limits at the pinnacle of sportscar racing.

A prototype of the Honda 0 SUV made its global public debut today driven by Formula 1 superstar driver Max Verstappen at the Red Bull Showrun x Powered by Honda event in Tokyo, Japan. First seen at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the all-electric SUV, part of the Honda 0 Series, is expected to begin production at the Honda EV Hub in Ohio in 2026.

F1 stars Yuki Tsunoda from Red Bull Racing, and Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar from Racing Bulls also participated in the street demonstration drive event – held prior to this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix at the iconic Suzuka Circuit – celebrating the historically significant six-year collaboration between Honda and Red Bull Racing. Honda and Red Bull Racing have achieved over 63 F1 victories, four consecutive Drivers' World Championships for Max Verstappen (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) and two Constructors' World Championships (2022, 2023), demonstrated astonishing speed and dominance at the pinnacle of motorsport.

The Honda 0 SUV participated in the demonstration drive wearing a specially designed wrap featuring geometric lines and reflections of light, a visual representation of the company's new approach to EV development – "Thin, Light, and Wise". The all-electric SUV was showcased alongside Red Bull Racing Honda F1 machines, including the "RB16B" and an "RB7" featuring Racing Bulls' new 2025 livery design. Also joining the street demonstration drive was the first race-winning Honda F1 car, the historic V12-powered Honda RA272, which earned victory at the 1965 Mexico Grand Prix 60 years ago, as the first race car from a Japanese automaker to win a Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Honda 0 SUV Prototype
The Honda 0 SUV is expected to be the first Honda 0 Series model to enter production based on the company's newly developed dedicated EV architecture. Building on the Space-Hub concept model unveiled at CES 2024, the Honda 0 SUV applies the "Thin, Light, and Wise" approach to yield a spacious cabin with outstanding visibility and flexibility. The interior of the 0 SUV prototype illustrates the company's direction to offer a new value for its future Honda 0 Series EVs as a "space" for people.

As with the Honda 0 Saloon, the Honda 0 SUV will feature a wide variety of next-generation technologies that embody the "Thin, Light and Wise" development approach of Honda 0 Series models. The 0 SUV will offer the value of an "ever-advancing" space through "ultra-personal optimization" and a digital user experience made possible by the ASIMO OS (original Honda operating system).

A production model based on the Honda 0 SUV prototype to be built at the Honda EV Hub in Ohio is scheduled to be introduced in the North American market in 2026, then in global markets, including Japan and Europe.
