If you want to support me, go grab it, read a portion, and leave me an honest review on Amazon. (Don't mention how you know me, just write an honest review of the content of the part of the book you read.)

Thanks in advance!

Anyone else tired of fighting a battle that has already been won?

That's when I know I need to take a play break. Play is one way I show with my time and actions that I trust God more than my own work.

Look at that!! Eek, so excited!

I painted again this morning, not because it was a hard morning, it was a great morning actually, but because if God is willing to "waste" time with me, I want to be there for it.

This is a really quote is a really beautiful description of playing with Jesus. It isn't really wasting time, but it is his patience. In this part of the book Art + Faith: A Theology of Making, Fujimura is talking about Mary and Martha with Jesus. What Martha saw as wasting time, was an intentional and important use of time for Jesus.

I want us to see this to be true of playing with Jesus. Have you wasted time with Jesus today?

We had a hard morning. Hard!

And, when I got home from taking one of my girls to school 45 minutes late, I felt overwhelmed, heartbroken, and lost.

I have been sick for 3 weeks and am behind on things for work, my book launch, and school. I didn't have time to play and paint, but I knew no other way to move forward in that moment than by sitting down with God and playing.

Have I forgotten the struggle of the morning? No way!
Did it fix anything? Just my attitude.
Was it worth it? Absolutely!

I had not earned a break or the luxury of play, but I needed a few minutes to sit and create with my Creator. To be reminded that play is not something we earn, it is a blessing, grace, and a part of the abundant life we are offered through our relationship with Jesus. And, it is a need we have to be whole and healthy.

Just as my play was a gift of God's grace, it should be for children, as well. They don't always need to earn their play. It is both a gracious gift and a necessity.

This girl is now 13 and has loved Communion for 10 years. It has been such a privilege to learn more about the bread and cup alongside her and even from her at times.

From wanting to be like Belle and wear long gloves (made out of diaper cream) to wanting to be more like Jesus, discipling our kids happens in the everyday moments of life.

It doesn't feel like a time to celebrate in our country, but God asked the Israelites to celebrate in the desert with death, confusion, and an unknown future around them.
And, because I know God is the same today as he was with the Israelites freed from Egypt and with MLK Jr. I will celebrate.

Today I am grateful for those who peacefully went before us and lived lives of love, especially MLK who we remember today with gratitude and honor.

Lord, bring your peace, truth, and unconditional love near us today.
