We’ve been home for 5 months and I’m (Troy) finding it quite depressing. I’m honestly finding the daily routine of school and work unbearable. I absolutely love the simplicity of caravanning with the ability to be somewhere new every week.

We are taking 5 weeks to do Cape York in June so hopefully that scratches the itch for a bit.

Anyone else get a serious case of post travel blues??

Where is your favourite place to watch a sunset?

My top 3 from our trip was a farm stay in Broken Hill, 80 Mile beach in WA and Ubirr in Kakadu National Park.

Thought I’d share this beaut product I used to clean all of the black plastics outside the van. Wipe it on with a cloth and give it a light polish with a lint free cloth. Takes next to no effort and everything comes up awesome. I got it from super cheap to do the bumpers on the car and it’s awesome on the van too.

Coming to terms with being back at home. The good thing is, we live in a beautiful part of the world on the Mid North Coast so it’s not too hard to settle back in. I thought I would throw out a few things for our 6 months on the road.

We stayed at -
68 free camps
13 caravan parks
35 low cost (under $15 per night / donation, show grounds etc)

We travelled 30,331 kms
Used 5846 litres of diesel
Spent $12,003 on diesel ( we anticipated 12k before we left )
Average fuel 19.17 L/100

$1200 on repairs - inverter died and had to buy a new one, Trailer plug burnt out, one new tyre on the van.

The kids had 17 pepper pies from different bakeries around the country. Evie says her number 1 pie was at shipwrecked bakery in Hopetoun (WA) and Zane’s was at Sassy’s Bakery in Cowell (SA).

Favourite part of the trip -
Troy - completing the Gibb River road and the Kimberly.
Erin - Swimming with the turtles at Osprey Bay (Ningaloo Coast)
Evie - Snorkel the Great Barrier Reef
Zane the theme parks and Uluṟu.

If you’re in a position to get out and explore this country, I can’t recommend it highly enough. I’m so looking forward to our next trip and eventually doing this full time 👍🏼

We made it to Narrabri. The kids had a sit in the cotton harvester (I didn’t realise how big they were). We checked out sawn rocks with thanks to the suggestion from Christopher Lynn. We weren’t able to get into the rest of the national park due to aerial w**d spraying for the next couple of days.

We headed out of town and found a spot down by the river to stay the night so we can get the car serviced in the morning. We weren’t due home until the end of the weekend but we’ll be making the mad dash home to beat the massive storm about to hit the coast.
