TOO LOUD RECORDS WELCOMES DA WOK GUM
TOO LOUD Records is proud to announce the signing of Da Wok Gum, the solo project of UK-based artist Cristian Assirati, ahead of the development of his forthcoming debut album.
Originally conceived with a Punk Hardcore ethos, Da Wok Gum has gradually evolved into something considerably more difficult to define, drifting towards Post-Punk, Noise and darker experimental territories.
Assirati is the sole member of the project, handling vocals, guitar and bass. His musical background includes experience with several bands, including Disastro Ferroviario and Clean Tone Bill, as well as a proudly self-produced project created with childhood friends Elia, Giorgio and Moreno under the name Firpo Chompeavy.
With Da Wok Gum, however, Assirati deliberately chose to leave familiar territory behind.
The project's music is driven by spontaneity and instinct, with raw, memorable riffs taking priority over technical precision. Imperfection and dissonance are not elements to be corrected or hidden; they are fundamental parts of the project's identity.
The vocals are aggressive, strained and shouted, while the lyrics embrace a deliberately provocative, irreverent and unsettling approach.
Musically, Da Wok Gum draws from a remarkably broad range of influences. The energy and attitude of Vi**ra Boys and IDLES meet the unconventional grooves of Primus, the surf-infused heaviness of Daikaiju, and the uncompromising spirit of underground acts such as Gerogerigegege and GG Allin.
The result is a project that exists somewhere between Punk Hardcore, Post-Punk and Noise, while deliberately refusing to fit comfortably into any of them.
At the heart of Da Wok Gum is the idea that music does not necessarily need to be clean, technically perfect or reassuring. It can be abrasive, strange, catchy, dissonant and uncomfortable, and those contradictions can become its strongest qualities.
Assirati is now working with Riccardo Daga of Too Loud Records on the project's debut album, a 13-track release currently in development, with mixing and mastering to be handled by Ricky Fankaz Daga at Titans LAB Recording Studio in Italy.
The album is still in its early stages, with further recording, production and creative work ahead. No release date has been announced at this time.
Too Loud Records will follow the project throughout the development of the record, with further details to be revealed as the album takes shape.
