I never expected that Switzerland had its very own “great migration” — but with cows! 🇨🇭🐮 Thanks to our generous Airbnb host Simone ( on Instagram), my family and I got the inside scoop that the Alpabzug in Switzerland (also known as the Desalpe festival) was happening during our stay. Roads would be closed for this spectacular event. Of course, we couldn’t miss it for the world. 🥹

Every year in late September to early October, hundreds of Swiss cows parade down from the alpine pastures to their winter homes in the valleys. They’re decorated with flower crowns, traditional headpieces, and giant cowbells — the bigger the bell, the richer the farmer. These also indicate that they have produced the most milk or calves that year. 🐄🌸🔔

To witness this Swiss cattle descent tradition right in front of our Airbnb was unforgettable. It’s a magical moment I’ll carry forever. 🤍 i was too happy i forgot to take a photo/video with them right behind me hahaha

After traveling 352,697 kilometers across the globe, hopped on 28 flights (two being a one-way ticket to the Philippines), adjusted to three timezones, lived in three countries, survived a global pandemic (and our respective bouts of COVID-19) over the past nearly eight years, we’re here.

I feel deeply honoured and humbled when I get invitations to opportunities like this. 🩷 It made me realise that the way journalism and the usage of social media is approached continues to evolve. In return, the consumers, users, viewers, however you may call them - grow along as well.

I could not feel more prouder of the students of World Citi Colleges Antipolo City, to which I have had the great opportunity to converse with some of them during the Q&A portion. They had queries that ranged from journalism in the current political landscape in the country, debunking fake news, disseminating factual and proper information, mental health in social media, etc. Their heart and mind are in the right place. Thank you to Denzel for reaching out!

Nearly forty eight hours later, the ‘Movie’ Is Still In My Mind ❤️ my mom would tell me, “hindi ka pa pinapanganak, alam mo na ang Miss Saigon” 😅 since she and my dad would play the songs all the time as a kid (I was too young to see the 2000 Manila run). It was not until I waited to see it myself years later when I finally understood the songs I inadvertently memorised. i’m still over the (Sun and) Moon from two nights ago — honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever recover. To the musical I grew up with, to love, and to dreams we all ever knew. ☀️🌙
