UN peacekeepers in Lebanon have been growing increasingly concerned by the activities of the Israeli army in areas adjacent to their operations.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil) was established in 1978 and since the last Israel-Hezbollah war in 2006, it is the only military force apart from the Lebanese army that should be deployed between the Israeli border and the Litani River, 30 kilometres north of the border, under UN Resolution 1701.

Following Israel’s invasion of Lebanon last week, however, the Israeli army has begun to increase its presence throughout the south, ostensibly to target Hezbollah operations in the region.

📰 At least 42,010 Palestinians have been killed and more than 97,720 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since 7 October, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

An estimated 10,000 are still missing, likely dead and buried under rubble.

Health officials report that over 60% of the victims are children and women.

Palestine red crescent: The Palestinian paramedics Yousef Zaino and Ahmed Madhoun were found dead in a bombed ambulance vehicle during a rescue operation for the little girl Hind Rajab in Tal Al Hawa neighborhood in Gaza city. The crew were missing for the last 12 days.

UNICEF warns an Israeli offensive in Rafah would mark 'devastating turn'

UNICEF has warned that a ground Israeli military offensive escalation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah would mark a “devastating turn” in the ongoing Israeli aggression on the enclave, as Israel moves toward an expected ground invasion in the overcrowded province.

“An escalation of the fighting in Rafah, which is already straining under the extraordinary number of people who have been displaced from other parts of Gaza, will mark another devastating turn in a war that has reportedly killed over 27,000 people – most of them women and children,” UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell said in a press statement.
