डब्ल्यूएचओ से जुड़े दक्षिण पूर्व एशियाई क्षेत्र संगठन के देशों की 31वीं बैठक सम्पन्न-

विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन से जुड़े दक्षिण पूर्व एशियाई क्षेत्र संगठन के देशों के स्वास्थ्य मंत्रियों की 31वीं बैठक नई दिल्ली में 13 सितम्बर 2013 को सम्पन्न हुई. इस पांच दिवसीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय बैठक का उद्घाटन राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी ने 9 सितम्बर 2013 को राष्ट्रपति भवन में किया था. इसके साथ ही इस क्षेत्र हेतु डब्ल्यूएचओ की क्षेत्रीय समिति के 66वें सत्र की बैठक भी सम्पन्न हुई.
इस बैठक में केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य एवं परिवार कल्याण मंत्री डॉ गुलाम नबी आजाद, डब्ल्यूएचओ की महानिदेशक डॉ मारग्रेट चान तथा एसईएआरओ के 11 देशों बांग्लादेश, भूटान, उत्तर कोरिया, भारत, इंडोनेशिया, मालद्वीप, म्यांमार, नेपाल, श्रीलंका, थाईलैंड और तिमोर लेस्ते के स्वास्थ्य मंत्रियों ने हिस्सा लिया.
बैठक से संबंधित मुख्य तथ्य-
• इस बैठक का सबसे अहम पहलू यह रहा कि इसमें गैर संक्रामक रोगों, खासकर उच्च रक्त चाप पर गहनता से विचार-विमर्श किया गया.
• बैठक में उच्च रक्त चाप पर दिल्ली घोषणा पत्र को स्वीकृति दी गई.
• इस बैठक में इसे नियंत्रित करने तथा रोकने की दिशा में गहनता से विचार-विमर्श किया गया. यह बीमारी मानव स्वास्थ्य और आर्थिक वृद्धि के लिए बड़ी चुनौती है, जिसकी वजह से लोगों को असामाजिक मौतों का सामना करना पड़ रहा है.
• बैठक में शामिल सभी देशों ने गैर संक्रामक रोगों से लड़ने पर प्रतिबद्धता व्यक्त की.
• इस बैठक के दौरान इसमें हिस्सा ले रहे 11 देशों ने भारत की डॉ पूनम खेत्रापाल सिंह को डब्ल्यूएचओ की पूर्व एशिया क्षेत्र की क्षेत्रीय निदेशक चयनित किया गया
