Two spiritual leaders from different faiths reveal how psychedelics are transforming their understanding of religion, community, and each other — watch Drugreporter’s new interview!

In this special interview, we bring you a rare and moving interfaith conversation between two spiritual leaders who are helping to reshape the relationship between religion and psychedelics. Hunt Priest is an Episcopal priest and the founder of Legatum, a Christian psychedelic society. Sughra Ahmed is a British Muslim scholar and community leader, and one of the first Muslims to participate in the silent psilocybin study designed for religious professionals. We sat down with both of them at Psychedelic Science 2025 in Denver, where they reflected on their personal journeys, the challenges and promises of psychedelic use within religious traditions, and how these experiences can open doors for deeper understanding — not just within their faiths, but between them. Hungary’s war on drugs has entered a new and troubling phase. In recent months, the government has deployed police powers not only in nightclubs, but also against some opposition politicians and some of the country’s most popular musicians—accusing them of promoting a “drug lifestyle.”

Hungary’s war on drugs has entered a new and troubling phase. In recent months, the government has deployed police powers not only in nightclubs and youth spaces, but also against some of the country’s most popular musicians—accusing them of promoting a “drug lifestyle.”

Should access to safe, regulated cannabis be a privilege — or a right for everyone?
Maltese harm reduction activist Karen Mamo argues that while Malta’s cannabis reform was a historic step forward, vulnerable people are still being left behind. Many who cannot afford legal access remain exposed to more dangerous synthetic products.

Mamo calls for the creation of a Cannabis Humanitarian Bank — a system that would allow not-for-profit cannabis associations to donate safe, tested cannabis to those most in need, much like food banks do with surplus groceries. A compassionate, circular approach like this could make Malta’s decriminalisation truly fair and inclusive. 💚
