We had a fun day yesterday visiting the show part of Overland Expo PNW. Here are some photos that we took inside the show. There are over a dozen truck camper brands here, so we didn’t catch every brand day one.

Today, we’ll be back in the show, but we'll also be checking out the field where there are many, many different rigs. We can’t wait to see what we find.

We visited the Rugged Mountain Custom RV factory in Emmett, Idaho and got an exclusive sneak peek of the Rugged Mountain X12 . The prototype is being put together right now, so we asked Jesse Collinsworth, the CEO of Rugged Mountain RV, to share some details about their upcoming camper.

What do you think about 1800-watts of solar? 2000-amp hours of battery power? 80 gallons of fresh water? How about a dry bath in camper without a slide? Let’s not forget the option for recliners or a u-shaped dinette.

The X12 has the same features of the X14. The X12 will be just like it, just two feet shorter! If you haven’t seen the X14 yet, check out the article: https://www.truckcampermagazine.com/news/rugged-mountain-launches-x14-production-model/

This stunning F-550 and Northern Lite combo delivers serious off-road power, full off-grid comfort, and one game-changing feature EarthRoamer can’t match. Demount this, LTx!

What if you could build your own EarthRoamer-style rig, on the same F-550 chassis, with serious off-road chops and full off-grid livability, for less than a third of the price of an Earthroamer? That’s exactly what one builder did by assembling a Ford F-550 and a Northern Lite Truck Campers 10-2EX Limited Edition.

Would you put together the Northern Lite and Ford rig or would you get the Earthroamer?

Truck Camper Magazine’s Story

In 2004 we were planning a cross-country trip. We started researching RVs and came across truck campers. We had seen layouts and photographs on the web, and then went to see a truck camper in person. We were sold!

Throughout 2004 and 2005 we explored many national parks, state parks, and BLM areas in our camper. Upon returning from that trip we sold our truck camper and went back to our jobs.

Missing our lifestyle on the road, we thought, “What if we started a magazine about truck campers?” We knew we could help others get to the same point we were at - enjoying the open road, meeting new people, and discovering new places.

That’s where Truck Camper Magazine began. We started calling the manufacturers and dealers, and they were excited to support our efforts. Soon we were announcing new truck campers, holding mod contests, and interviewing users about their camping adventures.
