Crystal is remembered because she fits Piranha 3D exactly as it wants to be remembered — wild, colorful, excessive, and completely uninterested in subtlety.

Riley Steele appears as part of the Lake Victoria party atmosphere that initially makes the film feel more like an outrageous spring-break comedy than a creature feature. Crystal belongs naturally in that world, bringing an easy confidence and playful energy that matches the movie’s deliberately over-the-top tone.

And that contrast becomes important once everything goes wrong.

The bright, carefree atmosphere is exactly what makes the sudden descent into chaos feel so extreme. Characters like Crystal help establish the fun before the film turns the lake into complete carnage, making the tonal shift even more outrageous.

Anne Hathaway had one of the hardest jobs in The Dark Knight Rises.

Instead of copying the exaggerated comic-book style of earlier versions, Hathaway approached Selina Kyle as a highly skilled thief who survives through intelligence, confidence, and the ability to stay one step ahead of everyone around her.

That grounded approach fit Christopher Nolan’s Gotham perfectly.

Selina is witty, stylish, and dangerous, but she never feels disconnected from the world of the film. Even her costume reflects that idea. The familiar cat ears are replaced by high-tech goggles that flip upward into the recognizable silhouette, giving the character a clever visual connection to Catwoman without turning her into a costume-heavy caricature.

Hathaway also gives Selina a sharp sense of humor that cuts through the film’s darker atmosphere.
