A Catholic priest and Christian influencer with an online following of two million people turned to UHI Inverness for the skills he needed to respond more effectively to ‘constant calls’ for guidance and mental health support.
Reverend James Anyaegbu (39) from Beauly graduated on Friday with a Counselling HND. The course stood out as the only option that allowed him to balance academic learning with his pastoral duties.
Fr. James A. Faith-Chat Platform serves seven Highland parish communities and is the founder and director of the Faith-Chat Platform where Christians participate in prayer and active charity.
“I began my counselling studies at UHI Inverness unsure of what to expect, but the journey proved deeply enriching and transformative. Guided by my dedicated lecturers and supported by my classmates from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, we grew into a strong and supportive community," he said.
His experience has inspired him to study a Master's in Psychology, to bring 'hope and healing' to those he serves.

LIGHTING A CANDLE IS A PRAYER:

When we have gone,
it stays alight,
kindling in the hearts and minds of others
the prayers we have already offered for them
and for others, for the sad,
the sick, and the suffering –
and the prayers of thankfulness too.

LIGHTING A CANDLE IS A PARABLE:
Burning itself out,
it gives light to others.
Christ gave himself for others.
He calls us to give ourselves too.

LIGHTING A CANDLE IS A SYMBOL:
of love and Hope,
of light and warmth.
Our world needs them all!

Prayer as you light a candle:

Lord, may this candle be a light for you to enlighten me in my decisions, and may it be a fire for you to purify me from all pride and selfishness. May it be a flame for you to build warmth into my heart towards my family, my neighbours and all those who meet me.

Through the prayers of Mary, virgin and mother, I place in
your care those I come to remember, especially___.
In leaving this candle, I wish to give you something of myself.
Help me to continue this prayer into everything I do.
Amen

May the souls of all the faithfulness departed through the mercy of God rest in peace, Amen 🙏🏽

Called to be Saints | The Saints are not Super-Humans | Reflection for the Solemnity of All Saints

In his Pope Francis once said, “The saints are not supermen; they are people who love God in ordinary circumstances of life.”
That means the road to sainthood runs right through ours daily life:
* Through the parent caring for a sick child.
* Through the worker who refuses to cheat or lie.
* Through the young person who stays true to faith when it’s unpopular.
* Through the priest, teacher, or friend who quietly loves without seeking attention.

These are the saints next door, as the Pope calls them, and they are the foundation of the Church.
