🏅Both winner and tagged friend each receive an Ergopouch sleep suit!!
One winner to be announced this Friday.
Winner to choose ✨ size ✨color ✨ warmth level ✨all depending on availability (check the website for all options). 🌈🌈🌈🌈
For over a month now, we’ve been testing out these cozy, breathable organic cotton, ergonomically designed suits from Aussie company Ergopouch (why is everything for kids from Australia 👌👌👌???), and they get a big thumbs up from Little Locals.
Since it’s basically a wearable blanket cocooning them on these cooler nights, we’ve noticed both Cal and Lucie moving around less in their sleep—so you don’t need to worry about blankets thrown off in the middle of the night—and generally deeper sleeps...translating to a few extra highly prized moments of extra sleep for us parents too 🙏
Here are a few feature details:
😴 Made from breathable, machine-washable organic cotton, free of pesticides or chemicals
😴 4-way zippers between the legs cleverly converts the suit from a sleeping bag to a sleep suit with legs for either preference (and easy access for diaper changes!)👍
😴Grippy foot pads for walking
😴3 sizes: 2-12M (31”) 🔹12-36M (41”) 🔹3-6yrs (47”)...Cal & Lucie are tall for their ages and both fit in 12-36M with room to spare
😴3 warmth levels: .1 tog (good for summer) 🔹.2 tog (good for LA winters) .3 tog (good for under 60 degrees, cold weather winters.) 😴 Super cute designs 🍭🍭🍭 Check ergopouch.com for more info! //S&J☀️

Candy Cane Lane - El Segundo // It’s that time of the year again 🎄🎄and for a convenient, non-hassle pilgrimage to check out festive holiday lights, Candy Cane Lane in El Segundo—with its mellow, block party vibe—is still our favorite (we also hit this spot up last year too)
Through Christmas night, the street will be barricaded off for pedestrians so it’s safe to walk with your little ones (and with strollers), and everyone can get right up close to the elaborate displays.
Faves include: Snoopy themed display (above) 🔴 Hawaii-styled lawn with surfing creatures and a dancing Hula Santa 🔴 a vintage VW bus campfire themed display with teddy bears making s’mores 🔴 North Pole airport filled with airplanes 🔴 a beautifully lit home which also plays classic Christmas movies projected on their front wall.
Here are the deets you need to know:
🎅🏻Streets are closed off through Christmas, opening up to traffic from 12/26 onwards with most houses still lit up through New Years weekend.
🤶🏻 Located on the 1200 block of East Acacia Ave on a cul de sac in El Segundo.
🎅🏻Parking is pretty easy to find within a block or two, and several of the neighboring houses also have elaborate displays up so it’s an entertaining walk to the main Street 🤶🏻Santa appears from 7-9pm to hear holiday wishlists on certain weekend nights (but is not there nightly.)
🎅🏻Lights are up nightly til around 10pm
⭐️LL Suggestion: It can get chilly so bring jackets and a thermos full of hot chocolate to stay cozy and festive. Also, being a residential area, there are no potty spots or snack/drink stalls on hand (other than candy canes from Santa)🎄//S☀️

Art Cart- All over LA // This, my friends, is childhood at it's best. ✨ This is an art class held at a private home that incorporates nature, water, music, books, singing, and dancing. 🌈 There is a flexible structure with boundaries, but also freedom, expression, and imagination. There’s laughter, exploring and interaction. 💛 The children are guiding their own play, while the teacher gently facilitates and supports their ideas. This magic is lead by private art teacher Michele Plafchan, the owner of soon-to-launch small biz, Art Cart. 🎨 Art Cart is what it sounds like - Michele brings a cart of projects and supplies to you and is available for ✂️privately hosted kids art classes ✂️ birthday parties✂️ art play dates ✂️and 1:1 art instruction! Michele was previously a toddler/preschool teacher for years at Branches, The Growing Place and more. She leads child/parent classes and created a developmental class called Infant/Toddler Atelier, inspired by both the RIE and Reggio approach. Michele studied the Reggio approach in Italy and is a calming, loving teacher. For more information, email Michele at [email protected] .
⭐️LL Suggestion: This particular class has one opening! It's hosted at a home in Baldwin Hills on Friday mornings, 9am - 12pm. Parents drop off their kids (or can hang if preferred) with lunch and clean clothes. Email Michele if interested. 🖍🖍Want to host your own weekly class? Gather 5-7 friends and reach out to Michele for scheduling. Or book Art Cart for your next bday party! //J☀️ Angeles, California

Underwood Family Farms - Moorpark // Yes, we’re back at Underwood for more farm fun!! 🐷🐴🎃
We had such a good time berry picking a few weeks ago, we had to come back to check out their Fall festival event. This post is all about Underwood’s Fall Harvest Festival which runs through the month of October until Halloween this Tuesday, but for more info on Underwood Family Farms in general, check out our post from our earlier visit.
In addition to their usual farm activities, for the festival, they have a corn maze 🌽 pumpkin playhouse 🎃 giant hay bale spiders & tractor displays 🕷 tractor-drawn wagon rides 🚜Farmer Craig’s chicken show 🐔 and of course a giant pumpkin patch 🎃🎃🎃 — see pic. (Fall Festival weekends also included live bluegrass bands 🎻 animal races 🐖 country games and face painting 🎨 and a row of food vendor booths.)
Their sweet berries are currently sadly out of season, but right now, you can pick tomatoes 🍅 chilI peppers 🌶 beets & cucumbers 🥒 and gorgeous, over head-high sunflowers 🌻🌻
Festival Weekday admission is $6 and open 9-6 daily 🌾
⭐️LL Suggestion: Get there early and hit up the unshaded pumpkin patch and veggie fields first, prior to checking out the animals, before it gets too hot ☀️☀️ Also, if your littles are like Cal and Lu, it’ll be hard to tear them away from the combine slide and life-sized wooden train playground so try to circle around to that last! 😅 For early planners: Underwood’s next festival is their Springtime Easter Fest from April 1-17th, 2018, with a ton of activities including Easter bunny photo opps 🐰 barnyard Springtime baby animal petting zoo 💗 and Easter Egg hunt 🥚🥚🥚See you there!! // S ☀️

Mr Bones Pop Up @ Platform - Culver City // Pumpkin Patch season has arrived!! 🎃🎃
We're planning on making a day out of it at Underwood Family Farms later this month but when you want to do a quick, no-fuss, pumpkin patch drop-by, Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch's small pop-up attached to the shops at Platform just opened this weekend, and is a good spot to check out.
It's not huge--which makes in manageable for an easy visit for an hour or so--and is probably most fun for smaller kids 5yrs and under. They have: face painting 🎈simple haystack maze 🎈giant rocking horse 🎈wagons to push around pumpkins &/or kids/dogs (see above) 🎈Nice selection of orange and white pumpkins in all sizes 🎈spider themed bouncy castle ($3 and worth every penny...a HUGE hit with Lucie, couldn't get her of there even after 45mins+!) 🎈Unlike MANY of the other pumpkin patches, a huge bonus is most of the lot is shaded and not too hot ☀️☀️Because of its size, the patch does NOT have a petting zoo, inflatable slides or some other usual attractions.
Other deets: easy parking 🍁$5/adult and kids 2yrs under free 🍁each ticket includes $5 towards a pumpkin (we came home with three mini 🎃🎃🎃 included in our ticket price!) 🍁Open 9-8p Sun-Thurs, 9-9p Fri-Sat 🍁Dog-friendly!! 🐶
⭐️LL Suggestion: So many eating spots to curb hunger worked up by bounce housing!! It was hot so today we cooled off with Sao Acai bowls across the road, but other nearby choices include Loqui, The Cannibal Beer & Butcher, Sweet Green, various food trucks, and we got our eye on trying out the newly opened Hayden next door. //S☀️

Das it! One winner to be announced this Wednesday.
Winner to choose ✨one style out of either 'Grip n Go' for toddlers or 'Flex' for big kids ✨ size ✨color ✨ all depending on availability (check the website for all options). Woo! 🏃‍♀️🏃🏻🏃🏼🏃🏽🏃🏾🏃🏿
Here's how it all began... We both have love for this brand (and people literally stop us to ask about these shoes) so we inquired if Pediped would hook up one of our little local buddies...and it's allll happening. We've found these shoes to have great support and grip for some rough and tumble running but more importantly(??) they are suuuper cute 😝, we would totally dig these for our own closets!
In addition, these sneaks are made with vegan materials 👣 are machine washable 👣 include an additional insole for a customized fit 👣 and have faux laces with a Velcro snap for easy on/off. 👍Parents will also be happy to hear the Pedipeds brand are approved by the American Pediatric Medical Association for supporting healthy growing feet for kids. Who doesn't love that?!

Little Lamma - Venice // Any shop that has a unicorn wall gets a huge thumbs up from us!! 🦄🦄🦄👍
Little Lamma, a well-curated online boutique for kids 0-4yrs (your new go-to site for a super stylish baby registry or kid's birthday gift 👌) has set up a pop-up shop on Venice's Abbot Kinney through the end of September!
Along with amazing wall decor 🦄 they carry super-adorable lines of hard-to-find, Euro-brand leaning clothing, like: Danish label, molo's romper playsuits printed with photos of Icelandic horses (why is everything out of Scandinavia super rad??) ⚡️ Joules USA sweet ice-cream print tights and dresses ⚡️ Petit Bateau classic striped conductor overalls ⚡️French brand, Catamini's lace-trimmed floral dresses and chambray tunics. The owners both have toddlers so the high-end, high quality clothing is kid-tested and approved. 💪
🌵Little Lamma is a fun shopping experience; they have a sweet playhouse area that keeps the little ones entertained while you shop (seriously, Cal and Lu hung out there on their own for a good 10mins or so), and every Thursday from 4-6pm, they have a kid/parent-friendly happy hour with snacks and music or crafts activities. ! Did we mention they have free gift wrapping? And that it includes cutest wrapping paper and pom pom ribbon we've ever seen?! You pretty much need to buy a gift here just for that wow-factor! 🌈
⭐️LL Suggestion: Having trouble deciding on a gift? They have a thoughtful and personalized concierge service: email or text them about the kiddo and they'll send you 3 amazing options within 24 hours. They wrap it and ship it! More info on littlelamma.com. Also! Lemonade at Abbot Kinney is conveniently next door and perfect for grabbing a quick bite. Some of the salads can be more intricate than most kids prefer but with noodles, soups, sandwiches, bomb mashed potatoes, etc., there are plenty of options. And if you enjoy coconut at all, GET THE COCONUT CAKE!! 🍰 @ Abbot Kinney Pop-Up

Kidspace Children's Museum - Pasadena // This is a child's dream land. 👦🌈It can be some work for parents but totally worth it and SO FUN to see your babes enjoy a truly enriching, immersive and imaginative experience. ✨There is an indoor and outdoor area but keep in mind, Pasadena can get 🔥🔥 so plan accordingly if outside. Avoid peak sun, bring lots of H2O, sunscreen, hats & extra clothes. The outdoor area was our favorite space (!) with 🍄 a man-made creek and little ponds for wading and splashing 🍄a messy mud zone with a work bench/tools plus a clay class 🍄a squiggly tricycle race track 🍄wood nymph musical instruments 🍄watercolors complete with kid-size easels 🍄 a huge bridge + lookout tower w/ unexpected owl costume 🍄 a safe, shaded water/sensory area for infants and young toddlers 🍄 foam building blocks the size of a 2yo 🍄 a Physics Forrest for older kids w/ huge experiments and activities, and MORE! Inside there is an ⚙️early education learning center for real youngin's ⚙️a greenhouse with plant based crafts ⚙️a workshop for older kids to use real tools and learn about electronics & robotics, plus ⚙️climbing towers ⚙️an archeological dig space- the list goes on and on! On top of allll of this, the days are packed with additional activities such as🎈story times🎈performances🎈crafts🎈presenters🎈animal visits🎈music, etc. The 411: Kid and adult tickets are $13, under 1yo is free. Discounts available for AAA/KCRW/KPCC members, EBT card holders, military. Free family night 1st Tuesday of every month 4pm-8pm. Cafe on site, you can also bring food and drinks - just no glass. Open Tues-Fri 9:30am - 5pm, Sat & Sun 10am-5pm. Restrooms, changing tables and nursing stations available. Stroller friendly. Shared parking lot with Rose Bowl and aquatic center, parking is free.
⭐️LL Suggestion: Cool off at the neighboring Rose Bowl Aquatics Center. Check the website for hours and specifics but Family Swim is a great way to make a full day out of a Pasadena visit. Kids are $1, adults are $2. There is also a huge grassy lawn just outside KidSpace complete with jungle gym, perfect for picnics and never-ending energy.//J☀️(some 📸 borrowed from KP insta)

Au Fudge - West Hollywood // Au Fudge's concept--a family-friendly spot that's fun for kids but also a place adults would actually enjoy too (even without the little ones)--is what Little Locals is all about! 🙌The littles play while you order a good meal, sip on some afternoon rose, even order a kid's birthday cake. 🎂🍷Multi-tasking done right! 🌈 Here is Jessica Biel's restaurant-cocktail bar-playspace-bakery-retail shop broken down:
🍭PLAY SPACE: the chic but welcoming fun & games room is filled with Waldolf-leaning wooden toys 🔺life-size dollhouse 🔺arts and crafts supplies🔺musical instruments 🔺books galore🔺an upstairs 'treehouse' reading nook filled with cozy pillows and adorable mushroom seats 🔺and always with at least 2 Au Fudge 'au pair' babysitters on hand to play and watch over the kiddies. 🔹Parents can sign in their kids 2yrs+ while they eat. Lucie was too young for us to leave but we were happy zoning out on the couch with drinks in hand while she played. It's $15/hr...and worth every penny. Although see below for our Little Locals discount!! 👊
🍭EATS & DRINKS: Pleases all ages! Lucie was as into her Panko-topped mac'n cheese and berry cobbler as we were into our wild salmon, grilled asparagus and hearty burger. There's also a cocktail bar inside with a deep cocktail, wine & beer menu 👍🍹👍🍺👍🍷
🍭BAKERY/GIFT SHOP: Here's where you get grab-and-go brownies & vegan cookies, or order a unicorn birthday cake 🦄 they also have cute party supplies, stylish gifts, toys and books.
⭐️LL Suggestion: In addition to the drop-in creative space, Au Fudge hosts a variety of amazing-sounding classes for babes through tween; like drum circle 🌈 kids yoga 🌈 robot making, ranging from $15-35. Sign up for a sampler pack via CityMoms app, use discount code: littlelocals ✨to get $20 off!! and use the passes for Au Fudge's creative space &/or select classes for only $10! 👍👍👍//S☀️

The Museum of Ice Cream - Downtown LA// 🌈🌈 I had been stalking the since it first opened in NY so of course I bought tickets the minute they went on sale (literally, the exact minute). Truthfully, there are mixed reviews about the "museum" online but we had fun and enjoyed it for what it was - instagram heaven. (Even though my pics didn't turn out great - oh the irony!) I'll give you my thoughts without going into detail about the experience as the very best part is not knowing what you will see around each turn! 👍 And that is actually my biggest piece of advice, try not to do too much research ahead of time - let the experience surprise you. 😱 Once you're there, crowds can only move forward through the exhibit, you can't go backward or wander randomly. This is nice as it keeps traffic moving and spaced out. It's a quick tour- we were in and out in 45 minutes which was perfect for a toddler. Some areas are better than others but the whole thing is colorful, fun and is totally kitschy. The staff is adorable and hilarious - they are a great addition to the experience. Plus, it's fun for alllll ages - just ask Cal's grandma!🍦🍭🍬You don't learn a lot about ice cream but come on, that's not really why we're there :) 🍩There are samples along the way, most of which were again, fun surprises. My other tips are🍦wear colorful clothing for photos 🍦make sure your phone battery is fully loaded🍦don't arrive starving and 🍦avoid a lot of pockets or clothing that can trap sprinkles and slowly/mysteriously leave trails of them around your house days after. ❤️💛💚💙💜
⭐️LL Suggestion: Here's the bummer - they are totally sold out online so this is mostly for those of you who already bought tickets. However! They have put more tickets up online once, maybe it will happen again. Sign up for the newsletter to stay abreast. It does seem that group tours are sill available for groups of 10 or more. Round up some buddies and reach out through their website museumoficecream.com //J☀️
